Streaming FAQ
First What do you need?
A usable Internet connection. 2 MB it should be, by the way if you still want to do what else. Most streams are found on the net and are more or less illegal. Where it is not illegal to look at a stream. Only the setting is not legal. As it is with a link to such streams, no one knows, because it is not clear whether a link is already legally actionable to a stream. Therefore there are no links in this blog to such offers.
But there is also the possibility to see a stream through external programs. You need a PC. I do not like the situation with Macs, but most programs seem to work only with Windows. For additions of Mac users, I am so grateful. PC users should have the following:
a) a reasonably current PC in the last three years
b) graphics card. Does not help, however. I noticed during my three year old laptop that only has an Intel graphics chip that is hooked ever
c) 1 GB RAM. Or make anything close.
d) DSL connection. 2 MB, it should be, 6MB are better. With 16 MB and you have no problems about it.
e) The Internet Explorer. Some streams run with the embedded IE better.
f) streaming programs. I'm getting to the next section.
Second What programs are there?
There are tons of programs with which you can watch live streams. The most famous might "PPLive", "ppstream", "tvants", "sopcast" and be the "TVU Player". The get all here . According to my experience you only need sopcast and TVU. For both programs there are on the same page also a web player, so a player who works out of the browser.
a) sopcast
Is easily installed and comes with a list of programs. Is somewhat square in the operation. But it works perfectly and is widespread. You do need some for Stream other lists of servers. Please be sure times in this forum informed.
b) TVU
Comes with a complete installation routine and a surface on which you need to configure anything (and can). The list of programs is determined, new programs can be found at the foot of annoying scrolling list.
c) There are also streams on justin.tv . Since looking easy times.
Third How does it work?
In principle, as any P2P exchange. If you are you will download something from something. That means that you spread with the stream in a certain way and provides the necessary bandwidth. The more people see a stream, the better the quality should be so.
4th What is there to see?
Mainly only U.S. racing series, so NASCAR, GrandAm, IRL, ChampCar and ALMS. But not everything is broadcast live from. European series like the FIA GT, DTM, the ELMS, the F3 Euro Series, the BTCC and others are very rare.
5th How do I know what and when is it transmitted?
It is for U.S. series on this page a good overview on this, what the U.S. broadcast stations. Furthermore, I grab the most important transfers purely in my TV Overview.
6th What is the quality of the streams?
The swings between good (ESPN 360) and bad. Most streams are just so that you can see a race in a very good quality. The picture quality is far from a normal TV picture. Especially with the weak-line breaks also like to stream from. This is especially true in the first ten or fifteen minutes. It helps if you start well before a race starts and waits for the stream that it has stabilized since the program first so enough sources on the net to look for.
7th Do I still need a Premiere subscription or MotorsTV?
Yes. It's ok, if you take now and in the stream looks clean, just because one has no other option. Or when certain transfers in Germany are not even offered. Even if you're not a friend of the pay per view, you have to accept just that coverage can be a good quality only if you pay something for it. The coverage from sky, specifically as regards the Formula One is absolutely top quality and good cost any money. Without reasonable Subscription in Alert, a sender can not purchase rights, if there are no rights, one sees nothing. New items from time to time when streaming is ok, especially when it comes to series that are not visible at all here, as the GrandAm, NASCAR or the other things.
8th How is that even legal?
Complicated. There are in the stream offers two different legal situations, and even they are unsure. One stream on a p2p software to see is, in theory, a copyright violation, because due to the bandwidth sharing itself passes the data well. You see something in a store where one is a pure spectator, ie not based on p2p work, things look different. Here it is only a spectator, not a provider. That's not punishable. However, I am still unaware of any case in which someone, even if he has used p2p, had received some form of anger.
