Indy 500: Drama Anniversary

Posted 31 May 2011 - by caution
Category Indy 500 , INDYCAR , IndyCar Series , motorsport

Over long distances, the anniversary edition of the Indy 500 caused mainly by poor TV transmission and vast quantities of advertising. In the finale, the race turned out but still as rich in history.

Only one curve separated JR Hildebrand of triumph, and with it the Indy 500 from the big sensation. However, after 799 successful Left Turns cracked the 22-year-old rookie, who had led the race as a complete surprise to the very last print but still in the wall. Much to the delight of Dan Wheldon, who in his first - and probably only - season use proved once again that he is too wrong only on the bench for the IndyCar Series. Even otherwise, it was not just a day of favorites - struck with all three Penske cars themselves, and Ganassi was the fuel-saving strategy, this time fatal. For the series could be the surprise top 10, however, point the way to a more exciting future.

Best of 2010: Part One

Category On our own behalf

This year there is something new. All members of the writing team have created a list in which they Tellen out the season and their personal highlights. The fall, of course, depending on the gravity of something different.

Best race
That's always a bit difficult, because it was not exactly a few races, you could see. The F1 supplied from some really good racing, the ALMS and the BTCC as well. My personal highlight this, as in previous years, were the 24H of Le Mans, which was far above all in the GT2 in the morning extremely exciting and where Porsche, Corvette and Ferrari battled bumper to bumper for the win. One should also not forget the 24H at the ring, where there was a failure to orgy with a BMW a surprising winner.

On the short haul should the F1 race in Canada have been the best.

The BTCC offers almost every race in considerable tension, but the last lap of the third race at Croft was then quite impressive.

/ / According to information from the FAZ , the Volkswagen Group to the entry into Formula 1 has chosen. Neither one will compete with its own team to supply other teams with engines. In recent weeks there has been speculation about a return of Porsche in the premier class. Appropriate analyzes and concepts have been well worked out well, but ultimately rejected now. Instead, it might be a commitment to the WRC, as well, the article echoes the assumption that there could be a Porsche prototype at Le Mans. (Stefan)

/ / HRT is if you survive the winter financially in the coming year to use gear from Williams. Currently it is indeed, as are the other newcomers Lotus and Virgin of Xtrac gearbox - with these products, but neither team is really happy. Lotus is likely in the coming year in the gearbox on the Renault set, only Virgin still seems to have found a replacement. Williams is the co-operation with HRT for at least obvious - but when the team uses only the established teams also Cosworth engines (caution).

The Indy delivered not just from her best race at Motegi, but this is the championship is still open. Helio Castroneves won in dominant fashion in Japan, he was faster than anything else that rumfuhr so on the track. But AGR was able to score with a strong team result. Championship leader Will Power came in 3rd place and Dario Franchitti as the 2nd the finish

But first, the race course: Helio Castoneves his pole at the start could also translate immediately into the lead, but was already in the 2nd Round for the first time sent the safety car on the track. Baguette was driven in turn 2 over a bump, it had turned and was taken back hard into the wall. This should not be the last Caution remain because of the bump. The speeds that you have achieved in Turn 1 and 2 at Motegi should not be underestimated, since the two curves go full throttle, since this one drives about 200 miles. Unfortunately, this painful experience was later to make even Mario Moraes.

It should be praised gleichmal Milka Duno who handed in their relationships an almost sensational race. Not only that, the car once in a piece of the 200 laps over with, they took over at the start of 6 vehicles and no it was not an early start and arrived at the end of the 19th place with "only" 3 laps behind the goal. But the restart after the crash of baguette. Franchitti and Briscoe fought over 5 rounds of the Sehenswerteste the race had to offer, namely a very nice battle for 2nd place, however, was the first Briscoe decide for themselves. Will Power was at that time in 6th place

For nearly two hours Saturday night, Indy has offered everything from race fans had expected Chichago. But: If at the end may be "the wrong" won?

In the Indycar championship is exciting again. One thing is after the first of four oval race at the end of the season now finally clear. And, although Miesterschaftsleader Willpower long stretches of the run was much better way, when some had expected the Australian professional circuit. Then his team made a decisive mistake - and race winner Dario Franchitti had halved Powers championship lead. But otherwise it went on a half-mile oval in Joliet, Illinois, again very neatly to the point.

IRL: 2010 Infineon Raceway Preview

A little late and time today in an abbreviated form of a look at the IRL race at Sonoma.

The IRL season is still far from over, but you've reached the last third of the season. With the race near San Francisco are still just 5 runs to complete, so there are not so many points, you can collect. In the championship lead at the moment bounceback Willpower before Dario Franchitti with just 39 points. What is a blink of an eye thanks to the slightly slanted point of the IRL system. Scott Dixon with 82 points off the pace a bit more distance, but no chance he is not sure. The distance of Ryan Briscoe is already 109 points but then, what is a bit much. The championship will be decided is, between the top three, and the race at Infineon Raceway could bring a small preliminary decision in favor of Will Power. It seemed a year ago ended his career yet.

ALMS, LMS and IRL: Preview 2009

On weekends, the LMS and the IRL are beginning a new season with many question marks. The ALMS runs her second race, but where there is no better.

irl_test Meet the economic crisis, especially the "little" series would be first, was in sight. While the popular series really stand still good, it looks in series, where relatively high expenditure meets little revenue, but then bad. The ALMS in the U.S., unfortunately, especially with the departure of Porsche and Audi, in the LMS, it looks because of the commitment of Colin Kolles from at least a little better. For many of the IRL is uncertain, but what is true especially for the period after the Indy 500. The summer may be difficult for the series and you will be glad that you have removed the expensive trip to Australia. After all - the season of the IRL this year is a little longer.

NASCAR: DEI / Ganassi merger II

Posted 19 Nov 2008 - by DonDahlmann
Category NASCAR

So slowly becoming clear just how the DEI / Ganassi merger team looks to new EGR. And the more details come out, the more it smells like it, that's actually not a merger but a takeover by DEI Ganassi. What should also be a reason why there is still no information about whether they will now go with Dodge or Chevy engines at the start. Clearly, the role of quasi-DEI, the team that will have its headquarters at DEI not, but at Ganassi. The two teams are different but retain headquarters, but the chassis can be serviced at Ganassi and manufactured. According to U.S. reports, it is currently not planned that each team half their engines continue to prepare themselves, but what really makes little sense. There is no word on whether they will continue to work with RCR.
