Despite the rain, the performance of the Epson HSV-010 is very surprising, because the other Hondas you have to look long in the time table. Takashi Kogure spun in Turn 1 and thus prevented a better position (start position 9). Before him stands the Raybrig HSV-010 (1:45.264), first on 11 and 14 followed by the other two team mates. The reason for the success could be the black gold: Nakajima Racing GT500 uses a single team of Dunlop tires, which currently operate in the rain probably best. further accelerate →

Super GT: Lexus to launch a surprise in Okayama

300 km (82 laps) were in the season opener of the Japanese Super GT on 1 April in Okayama. For Honda, it would prefer to have 83 laps, because in the end cheered the competition from the Lexus at home, which was before the weekend so really no one on the list.

The Okayama International Circuit is considered technically challenging course. The SC430 Lexus are a bit at a disadvantage because they can exploit their power on the short straights not quite. As favorites were therefore in addition to the Honda HSV-010 (better cornering speed), the Nissan GT-R wagon, distinguished by its sleek good braking during deceleration time. The first surprise then, however, Lexus put in the qualification: Under mixed conditions (rain first, then towards the end, a slightly dry road surface) is introduced to the center Cerumo SC430 (Yuji Tachikawa / Kohei Hirate) on the pole position. Behind the Raybrig joined HSV-010 (Takuya Izawa / Naoki Yamamoto) and the Petronas Tom's SC430 (Kazuki Nakajima / Loic Duval). further accelerate →

Prelude to this year's Super GT season: howl in Okayama today finally the engines to the 300-mile chase on the west by the Formula 1 and WTCC race track known for. Like last year we reported in our live blog again in detail about the race. The role of favorite in Okayama, Honda and Nissan, on pole, but is a completely different brand.

In mixed conditions, namely the Lexus turned Yuji Tachikawa and duo Kohei Hirate on the pole position in the GT500. So now no one had expected, after all, the technically-demanding course in Okayama a parade route for the curve nimble Honda HSV-010 and the sharp-braking Nissan GT-R. One should write off the vehicles from Lexus on routes such as Okayama still never, especially not when it's raining or wet. Is further accelerate →

Super GT: Preview 2012

No weak, pseudo-funny April Fool's joke, but start to the season: On 01 April awaken the Japanese Super GT Okayama finally out of hibernation. Also this year the Racing blog is the only German media is reporting extensively about the race series.

Much has been above speculation over the winter about a possible merger between the DTM and the Super GT. First there were the comments from Germany, which already sounded the beginning of last year as if it would be suitab Nigt with the Japanese, during the turn and just nodded obediently silent. Culturally speaking, so half a symbol for a negation of the merger. Only in December it was announced that agreement had been reached after several meetings, including in Germany, with the DTM, respectively, the ITR on an assumption of unit cells and parts such as safety gear. The news was less surprising, finally had Masaaki Bandoh, Chairman of the Super GT, shortly after the presentation of the new DTM cars 2012er expressed in Frankfurt openly about a potential cost reduction through the use of individual unit parts.

Also-rans: The news bites for 07/03/2012

/ / HRT presented as the last team the new police cars. The car will be a complete redesign, which in view of the now three year old Dallara chassis was certainly necessary. Also new is the paint that can still miss each sponsor. HRT has to cancel the entire winter testing in Barcelona and is today run only a few installation laps. It does so in Melbourne with a completely untested car, what the odds are not look better. After all, HRT has on board this year, KERS. It uses the system of Williams. However, HRT should continue to occupy the final grid positions. On a positive note however, that one has with Pedro de la Rosa got a very good erfahrnen and known developers in the team. (Don)

/ / With Ferrari the worry lines on the test are very numerous. The F2012 has potential, but apparently it has not fully understood how the car actually works. Fernando Alonso shows moderately impressed, but I know loud Gpupdate out that Red Bull now was just not easily move. Ferrari would have been so bad last two days of testing, it would fall on the team, said the former world champion. (Don)
