Bristol had to offer much on this weekend: An anniversary, exciting racing action on the very short, but highly elevated concrete track, including some cold deformation and eventually even a record. I've missed but that a little excitement, as Kyle Busch dominating the Cup race, where he was more than half of the race lead.
It was the hundredth Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway, which allowed Kyle Busch an unprecedented record: As the first NASCAR driver, he managed the triple, because he was in Bristol, both the truck race and the Nationwide Series run and the "Irwin Tools Night Race" Sprint Sup Series within a week to decide for themselves. So he set a mark that is likely to be evened out by himself, not so fast. Kyle Busch will start next to that is just like regular Kevin Harvick in all three national race series on the same weekend on the same route. In the Cup, he was placed in an incredible 282 of 500 laps lead.
First pole sitter Jimmie Johnson led the field to the green flag and was also the end of the first set of "fuel runs" against the competition. But then Kyle Busch had reached the top after he was able to get in qualifying only 19th on the grid. On lap 172 over Busch took the lead from California and the # 48 was able to reclaim these only briefly during a caution period due to a better "pit stalls" in the pit lane. After the fifth Caution the middle of the race it was then done by Jimmie Johnson, Juan Pablo Montoya as he turned into the wall during restart. Until then, however, was with Johnson and Kyle Busch made a direct pursuers pressure. The subsequent repair break brought the four-time champion at one end 85 laps, which meant place 35th
By and large, the performance of Hendrick Motorsports but has turned slightly for the better, because Johnson kept up to half of the race in 2nd place and the changes have on the car during the gathering darkness, therefore, be paid. Perhaps the outstanding Jimmie Kyle Busch would not be able to prevent the victory, but a top 5 result would always have been possible. Atlanta in two weeks will tell if the voting problems in the # 48 is an end. Johnson's teammate Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt drove unobtrusively placed 11th and 13th Both talked the whole evening in the top 10 had a solid, but towards the end to accept handling problems. Worse, it caught Mark Martin, who suffered in the battle for the Chase-qualifying a setback: the handling problems, the team continues to pursue with the # 5 and was more than rank 23 at the end is not in there.
About 100 laps then came again moving into the race: Jamie McMurray brought in as a possible candidate winning the race, as he was able to overtake Kyle Busch on the track. Caution Before the final were the last pit stop under green flag on, which veered the two leaders together. They beharkten a little, which ultimately controls the third-place David Reutimann laughing happy that lay at the end of the rotation at the top. But the # 00 could not do anything against Bush, and so sat down Kyle 15 laps after the restart in circulation 429 back in the lead. So the race was over, because in the last 71 laps race nothing more crucial happened. Busch won his third win of the season safely and pulled it straight to the Chase seedings with Kevin Harvick. Previously located only Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson with five successes 2010th
David Reutimann and Jamie McMurray rounded out the top 3, which represents both a result of insanity, and increases their chances of qualifying Chase considerably. With two races to go until the playoffs are 100 and 155 points behind 12th place but has a difficult task dar. this place currently and Clint Bowyer was able with a fourth place in the race in 13th place on his lead even further. Kasey Kahne drove quietly to rank 5 and placed it before the Reutimann by 136 points behind Chase.
The top 10 was completed by Ryan Newman, Juan Pablo Montoya, Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch and Matt Kenseth. Carl Edwards came from Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. is ranked 12th The Championship leader Kevin Harvick was 14ter. For him it is already fixed at Chase qualifiers now really just about winning as many races as possible, no matter what the cost. This strategy is now available for Jeff Gordon, who has solved his playoff ticket in Bristol and desperately need a win for the seeding in the Chase. This could go in Atlanta and Richmond at least two drivers, the full risk of being exciting again.
The results of the other Chase drivers:
- Tony Stewart was only ranked 27 with six laps down because he could not forget to kiss his handling of a wall.
- Denny Hamlin caught it as hard as Jimmie Johnson, for example against middle of the race had the drive shaft to be repaired, which cost a total of 27 laps Hamlin. In the end, he went one place ahead of Johnson in 34th place
The full race results, and many other statistics can be read at Jayski.com.
It was interesting that many drivers in the top 15 in the course of the race from farther back were advancing to the top. This preference was used a two-tire strategy to win in order to "track position". Clint Bowyer and Greg Biffle went about and were able to make up many places, what was passing through the narrow half-mile is not so easy. The old tires on the left side were pretty good, so that when green was just a little lost again gained ranks. That was probably only possible because the trucks and the Nationwide Series later in the week had been properly placed on the rubber concrete.
In the championship, there were some shifts, both above and below the "cut". Kyle Busch improved with a victory at No. 3 and is expected to close in the Atlanta qualification bag. Even Carl Edwards won two ranks, forcing Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson to leave their poor results in Bristol Springs. Especially bad is caught Johnson, who slipped from 5th to the 9th, at its 257-point lead in 13th place but reasonably likely to stand securely in the Chase.
Below 12th computationally still have all the drivers up to Joey Logano ranked 21 chance of the playoffs. However, I would be the realistic line somewhere in Ryan Newman (-118) or pull Kasey Kahne (-136), because more than 50 points to make up for only an exceptionally good day. Jamie McMurray has teamed up with his third place, even pushed past Newman and Mark Martin and is now the veteran 100 and 101 points behind Clint Bowyer in the 12 and 13 Since the last word has not yet spoken, but it will be hard for the pursuer to Bowyers point run in Bristol all.
Briefly to the Top35: Robby Gordon seems my advice from last week and continued to be followed Kevin Conway in fact be established with the # 7 car qualified Despite continuous financing of the car but had to leave the rookie after 212 laps. The official reason: vibration. My guess: The car was so bad that he had accumulated until his retirement almost ten laps down. The lack of comparison with values by moving teammate for the setup provided well for a lousy vote for Gordon drove in contrast to all cars from Front Row Motorsports is not the full race distance. The Owner-score was the # 26 (Jeff Green) by Bill Jenkins and the # 38 (David Gilliland) open Front Row Motorsports, therefore, continue and are now only 125 or 144 points behind the # 7
This should now be a Conway-bashing, but unfortunately I have to say that the rookie is not absolutely Cup footage. A full season in the Nationwide Series (only 25 races since 2003) or in the trucks (one start in 2009) would certainly help him before he tried again on the big stage. Even now one can say that lack of competition Conway probably the worst "Rookie of the Year" would be a long time. It may of course everything related to the financial crisis and the abundant caution of various lenders that are currently promising talents in short supply. Gordon Conway should continue to rely on, then I am firmly convinced that the # 38 before the end of the season is back in the Top35.
With Front Row Motorsports is indeed exchanged with regularity among the cars and my guess as to the # 38 was wrong. All three FRM cars drove through the race and sponsorship of "Yum! Brands "seems to have been used more extensively. You have to understand that team owner Bob Jenkins is a franchisee of the company and the cars financed out of pocket . The sponsor stickers are therefore only self-interest without actual payment by the fast-food restaurants. It is currently stuck though at the end of the "funded" team and get powerful technically a leg on the floor. Many "start & park" teams could deliver with the appropriate sponsoring a much better performance.
Links to the driver and owner championship including additional statistics on Jayski.com I have also added yet.
The next weekend, the Sprint Cup this year, the last break before the last third of the season is done in one piece. The Nationwide Series runs on Sunday evening prime time on ESPN2 from 20 clock their final circuit race in Montreal, Canada. There are of course again a few familiar names here: Among other things, drive Jacques Villeneuve (for Braun Racing in the # 32), Patrick Carpentier (Michael Waltrip Racing in the # 00), Robby Gordon (in his own team), Ron Fellows (JR Motorsports in the # 88), Nelson Piquet Jr. (presumably for Baker-Curb Racing), Max Papis (for Kevin Harvick in the # 33) and, of course, Marcos Ambrose (JTG-Daugherty Racing for the # 47). There are also, as always, the Nationwide regulars out of the cup: Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski and Paul Menard.
During the night from Friday to Saturday, the trucks in the Chicagoland Speedway are on the road, SPEED transfers for night owls from 2:30 clock. Final entry lists will reveal in appearance even when Kyle Busch at the weekend will be on the road.
Important still, Brian Vickers had to be in July to undergo a heart surgery after doctors found a hole in his heart. In addition, it was a prop used in the leg veins and arteries to relieve, to further prevent blood clots should be in the future. In January, Vickers is designed to allow the blood-thinning medication, so he is ready for the Daytona 500 again. The doctors have already given their OK for a comeback in 2011, the decision of the doctors NASCAR is still pending, but will probably be positive. So it looks bad for Scott Speed is currently out with a cockpit for next year. Supposedly he has a performance-based contract, but exact figures are not known. Thus we will have to see whether using Red Bull Racing next season two or three vehicles. The decision regarding Scott Speed will still take place in August.
