Indycar: Low voltage at Mid Ohio

Particularly exciting was the race on Sunday, not exactly. Only in the initial phase, a couple of times became obsolete - and in the final laps for the win the duel woke briefly from sleep.

When die-hard fans also prefer the IRL NASCAR finish at Watkins Glen View, as the Indy, then it is probably not in the race just a thriller. For much of the route was run at Mid Ohio, but the voltage level of the BR-alpha-night program. Nevertheless: In the end, it was interesting, thanks, Will Powers, courageous attack on leader Dario Franchitti again. But there was also the angular "Sports Car Course" at the end does not come by - even if the Australians worked more quickly. Power may, however, comforted: For zumnidest with a title it will be listed in future höchstprominent in IndyCar history.

The "Mario Andretti Trophy", the circuit championship is to give him a round before the end of the season to take not make one. But even as the air in the actual race was already out there - because even Powers pole on Saturday was enough to win this title.

But back to the race: At least in the initial phase, there was still some tension that is. The main reason for this: Takuma Sato, who pushed for a great qualifying performance (P3) when you start to second place behind Power. This place he lost it quickly again to Dario Franchitti, the pace of the leading group in a row but he could converse quite well. Too bad for the Japanese that he at the first pit stop positions lost heavily, and then restart the selbt bowled out of the race.

Another surprise: Alex Tagliani has again sniffed guide air. Thanks to a clever Boxenstratiegie the Canadians had after the first stint working at the top, where he remained until the last round of pit stops lasting. Because he but two laps to Power, Franchitti and Castroneves had to clean it with cold tires lost a few positions. Still, fourth place is for Tagliani and the newly formed FAZZT team a great result - especially on a circuit.

Also an honorable mention Simona de Silvestro has earned it. Eighth, beaten only by the Death Star, and Matos, Tagliani is not just the Swiss from the financially strong HVM team a great result. One, two additional ranks were but for a better final pit stop already been inside yet - in the middle part of the race, she could even hold (with the same rhythm Stop!) Ahead of Scott Dixon. Even in Edmonton, she had garnered for their good qualifying a lot of compliments - the idea of race in Lexington was certainly a class above again. It will be interesting to see what can de Silvestro show in Sonoma.

Despite five different ways to win more disappointing: Andretti Autosport. Marco Andretti ended up as the best pilot in ninth, Ryan Hunter-Reay in 10th place Tony Kanaan, which has not even victory in Iowa helped out of his depth fundamental form, finished the race at all only on position 17 The fourth in the league, Adam Carroll, could not confirm his great power from the series debut at Watkins Glen, and ran colorless ride on 19th place. He was still two places in front of Danica Patrick, who came last on the lead lap to the finish.

When KV Racing Mario Moraes took Sato's failure to at least a few coals from the fire - but not certainly rank 12 corresponds to the expectations of the team. Under the circumstances, Moraes' racing performance is still not so bad: after a crash on Saturday in the newly reduced pit lane (more on that in the preview ), his pit crew had to make do with two men less. Almost as expected: EJ Viso's team-mate took a lot unwise collision with Justin Wilson on lap 22 once more himself out of the race.

The duel between the two newbies decided clearly for themselves JR Hildebrand, who went on to score with a very respectable 16th place result. Francesco DRACONES debut was expected to mau: Once it is in the first half of the race after all, could not hold on the lead lap, then he delivered two consecutive spin in a row, the recessions in their yellow flags.

Milka Duno was once more in the way when overtaking, was otherwise still allowing their performances so far this season has improved somewhat. Consequently, the line Renne had to enact this time, no "handling problems" - Duno finished the race with four laps down after all.

Some news for the upcoming season and beyond were announced at Mid Ohio also: How Hondy has now officially announced that it will provide for 2012 a turbo engine for new regulations for the series. Additional engine manufacturers are still waiting in vain for the IndyCar - now it is talk that there could possibly compete with Honda until 2013.

Moreover, in the context of the race, the team owner for talks with Dallara - and this really disappointed (below) to leave. The Italian chassis seems wrought in terms of details are still not very much want to give Auskünft or (more likely) can.

And CEO Randy Bernard has been interviewed by planet-irl.com wiedermal the 2011 calendar raised . Many new but you did not reveal: the premiere race in Baltimore will probably receive another discharge date, as previously announced. Motegi is the calendar, and there will be anti-climatic as again towards the end of the season. Compared with USA Today Bernard has also revealed that a total of 24 track operators have shown interest in the IndyCar Series - remain in the coming year, but it is still more cost reasons at 17 or 18 events. Is more certainty in the form of a provisional calendar there until the end of August - are confirmed to all races, but it could take until mid-September.

Even a quick look at the overall championship: There could reduce Franchitti (420 points) behind his Will Power (461) something. With only a circuit but four ovals on the remaining calendar, it looks for the Scots when it comes to defending the title from so not too bad. But Scott Dixon (379) and Ryan Brscoe (352) have a little luck - such as a collision between Power and Franchitti - even an outside chance. Behind it was Helio Castroneves (340) again pushed past Ryan Hunter-Reay (336).

The next race is the circuit-end of the season in a half weeks in the beautiful (but not necessarily überholfreudlichen) Sonoma Valley.

I thought when reading the same thing as nona ...:-P

I have not looked at the IndyCar race, nor did the ALMS at the same place the night before. That should have been much more exciting turn, but at some point and also the ALMS / Todocast-on-demand streaming service will be available, so far, unfortunately, not yet :-( Review Kann therefore give me no, but at this point the tip, it then some time online or over the weekend to look at MotorsTV ;-)

I ALMS on the disk, but not yet seen. Indy Car really rather dull, but at least twice stood in the way of Milka and the scenery was picturesque.
