Formula One: Preview GP Valencia 2010

The next street circuit is on the agenda. This week it goes to Valencia in the last two years, a guaranteed long-hamlet program.

The idea to have a GP in the old docks of Valencia take place is, of course, by Bernie Ecclestone. A Spanish champion, the euphoria in the country, plus a lot of money from the provincial government - which must still be a success. Bernie is thinking. Presumably, he is also right, so as far as his wallet. For spectators and fans of Valencia is a single disaster. The first year we lived on a construction site last year, many viewers stayed away so that was locked over the weekend, still stands. A success that is not what lies at the boring race.

I have a pretty good memory for a good scene from the last race, but to me Valencia is at most one round of the start of 2009 and the failure of Vettel. The route is two-thirds deadly dull, but the last sector has on driving skills in themselves. Sure, Montreal is now not just "demanding" in terms of routing, but because the track is very narrow, which has been in Canada under the impression that there is something exciting going on. In Valencia you drive in a parking lot. You can now give Tielke the blame - and in this case is probably not wrong. A good indicator of a bad track, is the impression left by the support races. Porsche Supercup and GP2 give an impression ever. Or put another way - if the field in the Supercup apart quickly shows, it can be almost forgotten. And I've never seen in Valencia a good Porsche racing. After all - you have the run-off areas this year angepinselt allegedly partly green, so that the line looks better (Is not my joke came from track owner himself)

But this year we have even delivered a good race in Barcelona, so the hope is legitimate, that it sometimes could work in Valencia. In addition, all the top teams have screwed big updates to their cars. The largest of all the well brings with Ferrari. There you have the same built a B-variant of the car and especially in the rear of handicrafts. It starts with a modified suspension, is modeled on the Red Bull way, way down down exhaust that comes out almost at the level of the floor plate, and ends with an improved F-duct. The MSa a week speculated that Ferrari would now concentrate only on Fernando Alonso, Massa would anyway because already be too far back in the standings. This of course makes some sense, but probably means only that Massa is in the case of a duel more cautious. Ferrari in the constructors' title is much more important, it is hardly Massa can now follow behind, so he is testing parts for 2011.

McLaren brings with probably a lot of news, here it is probably a much improved airflow to the rear wing and an improved brake ventilation. Red Bull was expected to use the F-duct system, without that you would look pretty bad in Valencia. That was more of a torment in Montreal, so the system should finally be operational. More updates are sure exists, but since we still know nothing about it.

MercedesGP speaks of a discovery that would significantly improve the car. It is hoped that the port forward, but that would have such a big step that has rarely made a team in F1. Within just one race will be rarely more than 3 tenths. The cars of Rosberg and Schumacher suffers from several problems. First there is the well known problem with the tire temperature and the lower taxes, and second the car is simply too slow. On the grip itself, it will not be my most likely drag. The maximum score appear on the Mercedes never.

Renault moves less major updates, but they bring something new with every weekend for Kubica and Petrov. So you should also see Renault in Valencia back on top, but they is not the price much. The Force India sure looks different. In Canada, both cars were in the points and because of its poor quality Sutil has even become a better position away. In Valencia he has to another option. Liuzzi was also doing well on the way, after all, here's mostly straight.

Williams is still in a crisis. Although the car ran better in Canada, but Hulkenberg sank the possibility of a better result. On the part of team tradition states that the Cosworth engine was too bad. Less, as far as the top speed, more in terms of driveability and the torque. Renault in 2011 come as a new engine supplier. Barrichello will be kept strictly within the team, probably not until his 400th GP (takes some 6 years), but at least for 2011. It was "lost" without Barrichello said Frank Williams.

Clean, clean the store soon, the BMW will probably be even more invisible. The C29 is a crutch, said Peter Sauber the days on which you can screw around any more. James Key is probably already working on the C30, and the season is to tick off. And now we ask ourselves sometimes, BMW would not be pulled back and was taken up with the car. After all, you get the car up in November still beckoned.

I will not be so far this week out on a limb and call it a favorite. Sure - the winner should come from a top three teams, but we can not say more, because a prediction because of the many updates just will not be possible.
