NASCAR: Fontana Preview

After the smoke has set in Daytona, the real season starts. And the same with the bore in Fontana.

May be more of a difference there really be little. While Daytona in terms of voltage is usually towards the front, there is hardly a boring race track the supplies, as Fontana. The course near Los Angeles has taken care of my knowledge, not even for an exciting race and it is one of the race, which has the least viewers. And despite a catchment area of nearly 25 million people. But the NASCAR and California before two worlds that are not really together. Also in terms of "who is where" the race is not very meaningful.

In principle, the Konfiguaration of Kurin not bad. 2 miles oval with wide curves, but have only 14 degree banking. So the cars reach mph on the straight line top speed of over 200 and it is faster than at Daytona. Stupid enough, the Banking and the rather slippery asphalt can be even on the wide range of little overtaking and then leads to the fact that the money mostly apart after only two laps like a chewing gum pulls. The races are usually small patient samples with little action and even less Cautions, after all, what ensures that the matter is soon over.

As an indicator of where the teams and manufacturers are for the winter, the track is good too limited. Because of the particular configuration and the high-speed orgy, it is difficult to give an accurate assessment. Last year, Ford still looked good, only to then go into the rest of the season to be completely under. But some things can be perceived. Because power is everything here, you will see who has worked better than the winter. And since you probably should watch closely to Daytona primarily RCR and EGR, which gave me a very strong impression gemcht. Even Ford was there, while Toyota seemed to falter a bit.

In the first race it is always difficult to make out a favorite, but I guess times a winner of the Childress team.

There are still some news to report:

In Daytona, you have begun to plug the hole in Turn second It will pay off a portion of the crumbling asphalt and fill with concrete. This is certainly only a temporary solution, the discussion of a resurfacing is still in progress. As already mentioned, one tries to avoid this because the price would then lose its waves, it makes it so interesting.

Matt Kenseth has a new crew chief. Drew Blickensderfer, who took over the role in 2009, is replaced by Todd Parrott. Who won the 1999 championship with Dale Jarrett. Kenseth had a mixed season in 2009 and obviously the chemistry is not true at all.

    The trail:
Fontana is so prominently represented in the calendar, just because it is in California close to Los Angeles and Hollywood is so. So you have to take the chance, the stars / rich people in the vicinity of NASCAR. I feel the situation is similar to Monaco, where, although the tradition is much larger, but the race probably largely due to the prominence and not because of good races in the calendar is. Please do not misunderstand ...: o)
The second Fontana race you have now shortened luckily already at 100 miles, so at least we do not have to go in the Chase for the full distance.

    Matt Kenseth:
Was dissolved in late 2008 so the successful pairing with Robbie Reiser's crew chief, for this to heave into management. Kenseth and Reiser were probably both very unhappy, as you heard at that time, but who already contradicts Jack Roush! With the former Nationwide crew chief Blickensderfer be launched in 2009 so insanely good, but then known, was nothing more to see the # 17 Maybe the good start to the season was still a product of the last work of Robbie Reiser as a team.

    At Daytona:
A resurfacing is planned for 2012, but I suspect that it is already time to come to the next 500th Yet another zerpflücktes 500 can not afford the good, the audience is so broken for concern.

    The possible winners:
I agree with Don at times, as the Earnhardt-Childress engines racing Technologies seem to be really strong. Besides the three RCR drivers are therefore also Juan Pablo Montoya and Daytona winner Jamie McMurray in question.

As much as a small addition to the preview, I could not make this week, because I've indulged myself a little vacation. Thanks to Don for representation! : O)

Fontana and I still like ... I do not need to work Monday morning at 6,'d look ego.

The problem with the Neuasphaltierungen is that they just do some eventually must. If not 2011, then just 2015 or 2020, then just then the waves are gone and there are a few boring races before the formation of new bumps. But sometime after 20, 30, wasweißichwieviel years just has ne new pavement (and miss, yes, I bump into Darlington and Bristol, but still, it's so) on it.

    @ JakckKnife

The comparison with Monaco is not bad. Tradition is great, and also for celebrity spotting, but the races are rather bad. Overtaking belong to a race, and without the ...

    @ Waves at Daytona
I think it was Dale Jr. (I'm not sure) who said they intended to pave the track still new, the bumps were determined to get through again.
