TV & streaming rights 2010: It looks thin

It is perhaps a little early, but it looks like right now, you have to sit a lot in 2010, before the computer, especially if one wants to see U.S. sports and is the streaming situation is anything but certain.

Although racing is one of the more popular sports, the transfer situation for many series in 2009 has worsened powerful. This is not 2010 will be better. Actually, one would think at least, the broadcasters have certainly need to fill the airtime somehow. But unfortunately, many stations are a little damp (MotorsTV, sky) and others have no interest (ESPN America, sky, DSF). We'll have to spend so much time in 2010 before the computer to search streams. But unfortunately the situation has worsened. Streams were good since last fall almost exclusively found for ready to justin.tv, but the platform is under increased pressure from the owners. That was enough even for a Senate hearing in the U.S..

What exactly is the situation at the moment, you can not tell. Justin.tv has solemnly promised that they installed a software that interrupts the unauthorized live broadcasts at once, without the rights holders must sign. Last fall, some streams have died after they had turned off the juice justin. Ustream also understands little fun when it comes to streams. While some streams worked throughout the year to leave, but one should not insist.

There have now found some "private portals", the stream also, but the cost is now a neat pile of money and they are also very unreliable. Transfer times they do not, sometimes in the middle is connected to another program.

You will have to see how things developed. There are some portals in the Hispanic space, which have similar features like justin or ustream. May well be that many US-streamer "immigrate" here if justin goes with anything.

The problem is actually that the transmitter and the organizer does not have its own stream portals. If you choose this time, the situation would be much better. The willingness of most German fans is indeed quite given.

And so at the moment is the state of play in the series:

Europe:

Formula One:
Sky and RTL transferred, with only sky all the training sessions has. RTL also streaming all the races on the net and you have an iPhone application, which can be seen on the stream. To my knowledge, at least run at the end of sky from the broadcasting rights for the series. It will be interesting if the sky broadcasts of F1 screwed down further and make even more from the studio.

GP2:
Exclusively white. Exception: The GP2 Asia runs from € sport.

GP3:
Not yet known. The chance that she shows up at sky is definitely given. Ecclestone could to promote the rights "for free" to cut out the series, but then again the question is whether Sky will pay the satellite links.

DTM:
ARD. Also known as "Oh, there is Boris Becker, let us forget the battle for the top and make a quick interview, oh, and as the wife of Timo Scheider!"

F3 Euro:
n-tv has announced that they would like to do the first race transmitted live on Saturday. How do I know the ITR, you will probably decide in April. The same applies for the support races. They should indeed be seen online until the provider quickly went bankrupt, as is "funding hole" could say. A return to sky I think of the question.

F2:
Euro sports and (at least last year) as a live stream on the series homepage.

WTCC:
Euro Sport. To frame the race of the Seat Cup, the IFM, etc.

Formula Renault:
Euro Sports

Superleague Formula:
In the past year, to € sports, it looks like 2010, is still unclear. Presumably, it is but anyway back to the (good) free-stream type on the homepage of the series.

LMS:
The rights lie fallow. MotorsTV had it, but can not afford the transfers because the money is missing. Euro Sport has shown in 2009 to start a half-hearted and the last 20 minutes, the rest in part without comment in the euro sport player. The rights of the 24 H of Le Mans sports are in €, which will probably show again everything completely. It will be seen to be well above the portal of € streaming sport.

FIA GT:
DSF/Sport1. Actually. I'm not sure if it has extended the contract. We'll see how in recent years, too late. One has but to live stream from your page.

BTCC:
Since one can only hope for a stream that can be seen with it4. The transfer continues but the entire race Sunday.

British F3:
No stream, because there are no live broadcasts. MotorsTV shows but with one to two weeks late recording.

ADAC GT:
Far and wide no station in sight, what is the star cast and good race very unfortunate. The 24-Hour race ring broken up by the DSF/Sport1 again, but here there is a very good stream from the ADAC.

United States:

NASCAR:
The only chance for NASCAR in Germany is white. It has in recent years, from time to time given the approach of a conversation between the DSF/Sport1 and NASCAR, but there is nothing to do, since the transmitter with MotoGP and the league is on Sundays at full capacity anyway.

Sky will take the series barely into the program. Even if they would get the broadcast rights paid to them since the satellite link is more than 5 hours too expensive and blocked the NASCAR channel option to the one they need for the PPV program. Then there are the rain delays.

Since last May, however, maintains a persistent rumor that the sky might have interest to buy NASCAR HD. And only the HD version to the moldy before him SportHD channel continues to beef up. No idea what to think of it, but five hours less content the channel probably would do well.

In the streams sees it, as mentioned above, from heavy. One can hope that the "Speed Week" is streamed securely at Daytona, as this is the race that interests most Americans. Justin but should actually make the leaks, you will need to grab hold back on the portals, the more "private" stream. The money usually want to see and not too tight. Honestly, I blush to support these "channels". First, because they are unreliable, partly because I'd rather pay $ 300 to NASCAR, but then have a decent stream. One thing is clear - the situation will change throughout the year and over again.

IRL:
sky is not transmitted by the series. Euro sports they will not take the Sunday night are also completely sealed. MotorsTV is due to lack of money also. Also, I do not want to hear again Stefan Heinrich. However: the IRL provides a portal to their own stream, which was then folded in 2010 in Germany. Otherwise you have to gloss over its IP via proxy.
The Indy 500 is a special case, here are the rights otherwise granted. Could be that the sky again this year in the program.

ALMS:
Here, too, had MotorsTV the live rights, but had to get it. As far as I know, the rights are still among the French. Sebring and the Petit Le Mans will be shown live and every other race only a week late.
In the U.S. rights are held by various channels, including SpeedTV. Sometimes there is a stream, but rarely, and then, if no NASCAR races run in parallel.

GrandAM:
SpeedTV has the rights for the entire season and it is all races live. Here there could be streams, because the GrandAM belongs to NASCAR and their race, not with the Sprint Cup overlap.

Other series:

V8 Supercars
Are shown by MotorsTV a week late. Sometimes an "as live" on Sunday, shortly after the race. A live transmission because of the huge time difference makes little sense. Motor transmits live but the Bathurst 1000.

Japan / Super GT:
Nothing to see.

WRC:
Euro Sport is no longer the WRC. MotorsTV takes over the evening, half-hour summary. Are quite good and detailed videos are also here on the website of the series. Euro Sport focuses on the IRC, where she (whoops) are co-organizer.

    Thank you for the collection.

PS: Do you really think "300 dollars" for the Speed Week?

  2. Mattzel89 11th January 2010 at 08:50 #

So the sky is at least still in the IRL Press in 2010 (where the GP2 and Porsche Supercup will be mentioned)
    http://info.sky.de/inhalt/static/download/pressemappe_programm2010.pdf

With NASCAR, it looks really bad, but it is supposed to "supposedly" be with us soon ESPN HD, ESPN America, of course, can only be HD ... I view as not. Some write, others something else again.

  3. Kai 11th January 2010 at 09:35 #

The LMS-rights are not actually "broke." These are for three years (08,09,10) went to € sport.

ESP starts with the Monte Carlo Rally fact, almost entirely live in the new season IRC. 14 of 15 stages will be live on the two channels to be seen. In contrast, the ridiculous, one-hour broadcasts per night on a weekend WRC nothing really.

The only question is, how far will the ESP contingent of Live Stages go down to the Monte. The Monte is a highlight of the season and then the series could certainly do it again so good. In addition, with Robert Kubica at the Monte yes even a well-known F1 driver is ;).

Also wenns now goes to the bikes: DSF has rights to the MotoGP. When SBK ESP has extended in October and also secured the support race of the Supersport and Superstock Cup. SBK has "lost" Ben Spies in MotoGP.

@ Mattzel: This is probably to "ESPN America HD." Normal ESPN HD only get updated very often in the UK.

  5. NoteMe 11th January 2010 at 13:22 #

    And where is the A1GP? : D

  6. pete amiga 11th January 2010 at 13:45 #

    @ NoteMe:

A1GP is no longer to be bankrupt!

  7. Twilo 11th January 2010 at 15:05 #

have the information first-hand what the don indycars concerns, or rather a presumption? each time the same crap from sky and streams is dsl nix standard thanks to village, so probably I do not see again ne 2010 is: (!

  8. Speedy 11th January 2010 at 17:00 #

Apparently yes, NASCAR is working on an official stream, you probably heard at the time with FOX and ABC / ESPN for even in their race something like the Race Buddy on TNT to offer.

    At least something ...

  9. Walter 11th January 2010 at 17:10 #

I would be a reasonable stream of official NASCAR already cost a bit. But I'm skeptical that there is doing what.

  10. ! Nazi! DE-RAC! NG 11th January 2010 at 19:07 #

So according to my information, the 2010 IndyCar sky is seen. Like the Formula 1 But the next day anyway will find again the conversation with colleagues.

Then I'm going to inform on! R about it.

Since splashing hats so some things that can not take a vote altogether. From the Grand Am series as the 24 hour race at Daytona is partially transmitted live on € Sport 2.
IRL, Sky has the rights nor in any case. Whether it is sent is of course another question.
Of the WRC also get updated very often almost 1 hour summary and not just 30 minutes on Motors TV.

  12. Twilo 11th January 2010 at 20:05 #

indycarrechte thought the end of 2009 would have expired?

  13. DonDahlmann 11th January 2010 at 20:08 #

My info after the end of 2009 IRL rights have expired, but I do like to teach a better one. However, Jacques Schulz was not the last race of the season with the usual "In 2010 they are back in the IRL on Sky" or "Until next year," or other approved.
As mentioned above, this is also a summary at a very early stage. Let's wait what will happen in March / April.

  14. Slayer_ch 11th January 2010 at 20:57 #

Somewhere times was that Sky has the rights in 2010 yet. But my question now is not where. Is it always like that one no longer finds the text. :-)

  15. Dennis G. 11th January 2010 at 21:07 #

These statements are on Sky anyway not worth much. We remember the NASCAR late 2007. A possible NASCAR HD channel is my information may no longer up for debate. Meanwhile, Sky has indeed the English Premiere League in HD also on board. And that runs parallel to the league starting next weekend.

My hopes are governed solely by the negotiations between Turner and FOX / ESPN. And since I'm actually pretty sure that we get to see even more in 2010 than the TNT Race Buddy streams. If FOX / ESPN will not agree with those, I definitely fall into apostasy.

  16. Dennis G. 11th January 2010 at 21:10 #

    PS: http://www.stockcar-news.de/indycar.jpg
NASCAR = everything goes in circles in the United States.

  17. Xenic 11th January 2010 at 21:19 #

IMO has Premere late 2008 or early 2009, denver extended contract with the Indy cars only for one year. Which means nothing else than to wait until 1 Race if the have not yet gained something. Any statements in press releases is not really much value in SKY.

  18. FormelMasters14 11th January 2010 at 21:33 #

Is perhaps a bit old, but you can skim it even once

According to the 'Consolidated annual accounts' from 2006 to the Indy Racing League (IndyCar Series or) until the end of 2009 ...

  19. Xenic 11th January 2010 at 22:05 #

I then pulled the wars premiere in early 2009, the option on the IRL.

  20. 11th Chaos January 2010 at 22:51 #

    @ Slayer_ch

I think Sky had written to a request for the rights of stock car news.de: =)

  21. jo 23rd January 2010 at 20:42 #

DTM & ARD: "Let us forget the battle for the top" - Is there any other DTM? ,)

  22. FormelMasters14 fifth February 2010 at 23:00 #

Quick update: The new FIA GT1 in 2010 will definitely be on DSF / Sport 1. The summary of the DTM and F3 races have been in the program.

  23. Motorkeek 6th March 2010 at 23:02 #

Hi question, sometimes in the community whether it broadcasts news in the IRL in 2010 gives SKY comes as Live or what do I cancel my subscription now finally (yes NASCAR is already gone, too)

  24. Exrichter 11th March 2010 at 13:01 #

Nix is - IRL was just pulped silently as the NASCAR a few years ago.
    Man could puke ....

  25. 13th Rise March 2010 at 03:42 #

What a crap, no more Indycar in the German tv .. have gard a mail sent to Sky in order IRL ... I'm curious wat ma se answer ... watch F1 fucking boring ... just full of dat ... god sake .... but still beautiful, the like-minded stop by .... KEEP RACING

  26. Sanni 13th March 2010 at 13:36 #

So I think it's really a shame that we in Germany can actually see the nurnoch Formwl 1 live. I fell full on the Untitymedia advertising for Motors TV have made the transfer to NASCAR and the only thing that there are leuft repetitions. No matter where you look is not the transmitter reads the money and not have airtime eg Nascar transferred to knit squads but on Friday had the time DSF Formula 1 to 5 hours on a good show piece just because Schumacher is back. I wonder where this goes more slowly!!

  27. 15th Rise March 2010 at 17:58 #

So people, got response from Sky regarding bekomm IndyCar 2010 The Live ... did not get the TV rights for 2010 ... But if wat should change, I ... well ... they Notify me ... uhhh .. not great and the IRL season opener will probably hammer was be, according to Motorsport-total.com ... hopefully Sky will be showing at least the Indy 500 Live ... aslo leutz Kepp RACING

  28. DonDahlmann 15th March 2010 at 18:00 #

    @ Rise :
Thanks, but will NOT run the Indy 500 on sky. And they have the rights "have not" too but not purchased.

  29. 15th Rise March 2010 at 18:07 #

@ DonDahlman aso ... and where did you get the news? jut, formerly Premiere has not shown the whole season ... but dat INDY500 want wa ma hope ... if it were so cool ...

  30. Motorkeek 18th March 2010 at 22:26 #

No, no is the behämmert, good racing is disappearing from the screens, when I compare the first F1 race with the first Indy race I ask myself really what is that in SKY.Vielleicht you just start times ne petition and sends it to SKY in the hope that what you mean to passiert. Was?

  31. 19th Rise March 2010 at 17:53 #

@ Motorkeek real ... dat first F1 race was so boring in contrast to the stock one IndyCar race ... according to network ..... Well, consider dat ma ne real good idea ... Maybe you should do so dat ma so ma SKY looks like a lot of IndyCar fans and yet there are other "BETTER" Motorsport is the "YOUR" oh sooo great F1! Stalin ... that there are sooo many Indy fans ... Does anyone of you perhaps where you via live stream (free) can watch Indy racing? MFG .... KEEP RACING
