What else was a week
Preview: AsianLMS, GP2 Asia & Formula 2
In addition to F1 and NASCAR also run at this week again a few other series. The WTCC travels to Japan and continues its race in Okayama, together with the new Asian Le Mans Series. The formula is 2 instead of in Europe and its season finale in the Framework Programme of the International GT Open in Barcelona.
Asian Le Mans Series - Okayama Int'l Circuit
Even the European Le Mans Series is indeed somewhat difficult to do. One would like to offer the private and factory teams a chance for their 24 Hours of Le Mans cars designed to use more than just once a year and therefore moves to the five-1000km race in Europe. Model 1999, established the North American ALMS, but really was not there ran to get there. The 1000km race for "big" TV channel (such as Euro sport) too bulky for small (like MotorsTV) too expensive, so it is also a lack of TV exposure. And now that Audi and Peugeot are due to economic crisis this year, mostly not even begun, then lead even the basic idea of the series ad absurdum. Not an easy situation, therefore, even if most of the races worth watching and can always see a few spectators at the track.
Formula One: Abu Dhabi preview
The last race of the 2010 season is coming up. The titles are awarded, so you can be relaxed way. Behind the scenes, however, moves a lot.
The first images that come straight from Abu Dhabi show, once again a rather boring Tielke route. A couple of long straights, a few odd corners, a lot of run-off areas with annoying paint. Via Twitter, we read that those present are of the plant to be very enthusiastic, but the route has not yet spoken to her. The first eye-catcher is at least the pit exit. Since coming to the launch of a medium-speed Geschlängel, you have simply passed through to the exit route, so they get out on the street is. Otherwise, show the first on-board images that the course is to drive very angular. Also seem to have some problems with the braking points, which is understandable given the yawning emptiness beside the track.
NASCAR: Talladega Preview November 2009 / News
This week it goes in the NASCAR Chase for the next Talladega Superspeedway with a spectacular "restrictor-plate" lottery, which would also be the last big chance to influence the championship event to once again prevail.
Martinsville stood in the last week is not expected as a "game changer" out, as Jimmie Johnson takes a victory but only took a second place, but it could extend his championship lead still further. Thus he went to Virginia actually just lost his three victories in the fall races in a row. His chase results (4-1-9-1-1-2) show that the eighth place of Mark Martin at the weekend was just too little to keep up with the triple champion. Martin (1-2-7-4-17-8) and Jeff Gordon (15-6-2-2-4-5) as a point of second-and third show that Johnson sets the bar high at the moment damn. With a computer game can be a very clear well: even if it had as Juan Pablo Montoya to his horror weekend in Charlotte instead of number 35 back out a third place, he would be lying in second place still 88 points behind Johnson, and only 30 points ahead of Martin. Jimmie Johnson is also the only driver who has arrived in the Chase this year so far in the top 10 each time.
Formula series: And another ...
There is one true formula for inflation series. This is good for the young, but who will see it all?
Economic crisis or not - there is so many monoposto 2010, as no longer exist for a long time. When I got the first, still provisional, calendars for 2010 have created, I noticed the crowd at various international series on again. GP2, GP3, F2, IFM, Formula Renault, F3 to the €, various national F3 series, Formula BMW and in England there are even some Formula Ford series, which in Germany is unfortunately almost completely extinct. When run in each series 20 drivers, you get a very wide field of drivers who want all of course in Formula One. Does that make sense?
DTM: Scheider is a master / NASCAR: ABC should thank Montoya
Timo Scheider was able to secure a solid performance yesterday, his second Masters title in a row. The race was unfortunately a bit dull.
If it had not gone to the championship, the race would unfortunately again been very boring. So it was to some extent, not because of Scheider Paffett and di Resta came away not behind could catch up. The Mercedes has to leave then you have worked cleanly. It would have been entirely possible that Paffett forward a little slower, makes it di Resta cleaner can put pressure on the number but it has thankfully avoided. Was able to pick up riders at the end of the championship, which is just down the most consistent and had very few technical problems.

DTM: Hockenheim Last Race
On the DTM weekend trying to elect their master, whose name is again expected to Timo Scheider hot.
Scheider has a seven-point lead over his only remaining rival Gary Paffett. That is, with only 10 points are awarded, pretty much, but how one can know what happen from time to time. Tom Kristensen was there just called, who lost his championship lead in 2006 (and probably the title) when he broke at Brands Hatch a few minutes before the end of the race the track rod. Nothing is safe. But as Audi Hockenheim track and I'm sometimes hard to believe that Audi will build a "safety bar" for Scheider, should not be ahead at the top. If not what happens mischievous, then one expects something neat boredom.
This Is the Modern World: New tracks 2009
Rennstreckenbau has rarely had such stimulus as in previous years. One would indeed think that the demand is eventually met, but apparently this time is not come yet. Two recent examples of new tracks so I would imagine at this point again, because they celebrate the coming weekend or already at their big premiere this: the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and the Ciudad del Motor de Aragon and Aragon Motorland at Alcaniz in Spain.
I'll start with a deliberately pointed statement: one has to solve as a motorsport fan of the idea that it is the only venues for modern racing car racing. Rather, they are large real estate projects that need to be economically viable over everything else. Exceptions (such as Potrero de los Funes) naturally confirm the rule.
If "build" before someone wanted a race track, he has hergenommen a triangle of roads, the curb once a year, "decorated" with bales of straw and tape and went off the post. Thus arose Spa-Francorchamps, Hockenheimring and many more routes, there were exceptions, of course, even then, as the Nürburgring or Monza. The built after the war early permanent race tracks were still quite simple: a ribbon of asphalt around a disused airfield, etc. around, done. This is felt to be 98% of the English race tracks.
NASCAR: Martinsville Preview October 2009 / News
The chase is half rum and as expected does Jimmie Johnson hard. With three playoff victories in five races of the three-time champion sets the bar high and the race in Martinsville are calculated to its very strong.
Three wins in five races are an example of complete superiority in NASCAR. For Chase-half now three out of four Hendrick cars are at the top of the Championship table, who is missing, is clear. If you think it's very accurate and takes Tony Stewart if his customers cars to count, there are even four Hendricks at the top and all five Chase races were won by shuffle mode. When Roush Fenway since not caught up in the next few years, become one-sided dominance. I do not trust it too thoroughly Roush, 2010 for the vacant space on the side of Hendrick Motorsports to take, especially with regard to future cooperation with an additional four-car team, namely Richard Petty Motorsports. Additionally, it will from next season at Roush focus only on four cars, as the NASCAR limit now applies to the Ford company.
