For two years, there is the racing blog in this form. Time, they want to say thank you

Exactly two years ago , I set up this page here. She saw first time so , then you as . Since last fall I think I'll have finally found a layout that meets all my needs for now. So easy to handle and is very flexible comes along.

The site is in time become much bigger than I ever imagined, which has indeed made that May also be a server change. Time, a little statistic:

2 servers
686 items
3116 comments
19 217 spam comments
approximately 633 000 visitors (daily peaks up to 5000 users)
countless liters of sweat, beer, cola, Bionade and (until recently) a lot of cigarettes

To celebrate I have Wordpress and the layout once brought up to date, taken a few minor layout improvements, and I have given a new header of my friend got that replaces the previous.

But most of all I would like to thank those times then that look over here every day and in chat or in the comments with links and instructions are here. Sometimes the page is faster than Twitter, and there are many exciting and fun in chat discussions.

DTM - Oschersleben, IRL - Kentucky, BTCC - Snetterton, LMS - Algarve, SLF - Donington

DTM is trying once again go in the race. Hopefully this time then there is also an official Zelles result. From the Zandvoort had to wait until today.

Audi_Strafe The DMSB has then once today, some 12 days after the race, deigned to make a decision. So you have demonstrated Ekstrom with a 5 second penalty, which raises him to a rank to the rear. Why was Oliver Jarvis and Alexandre Premat additionally cautioned not to me is still a mystery, because they have done nothing else, as they were told. Außemdem there was a penalty against two Audi teams (Phoenix, Abt Sportsline) If the proceeds DMSB but from a Trump Card, then you should have sanctions against Ekstrom. But rather not think about it further, or else suggests you look at still.
The DTM is on the track at Oschersleben actually lifted not so bad. The route is not very wide, but the DTM for a challenge, because the driver is something more required. So more Drive Risch located on the busy side, it is this strange hook that you have installed at the end of the start / finish straight. On any other route would be something impossible, but Oschersleben has brought the 90 degree corner lot really. At the start anyway, but also in the race you can overtake here well. Sometimes even when you really can not overtake. Then just take the door with a bit of the opponent. Whether this is also in the DTM, then is another matter.

NASCAR: Pocono Preview July 2009 / News

To Indianapolis, which this year produced no upsets, we continue fairly boring and uneventful. With the second race in Pocono, a partially controversial Sprint Cup race on the program.

pocono I am very happy that the "Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500" calculated on a weekend goes by the stage where I'm not at home anyway - Festival planning is thanks! For several years already arguing publicly and internally on the meaning and purpose of a second race at the season Trioval in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. On the plus side is probably the one hand, the good relationship with the Mattioli family, owners of one of the last independent Speedway in the Sprint Cup. Dover and Indy are the others, the last of SMI and ISC independent routes. On the other hand, just the little explored North American Market for Eastern and NASCAR is very interesting. A race in the vicinity of New York is just as attractive as the race at the Auto Club Speedway in nearby Hollywood. So it is just sometimes too long hamlets when the convenient location correct.

On the downside you can probably enter the outdated security of the oval, about which even the most drivers complaining for years largely in vain. On the inside of the track can be found for ages, the commercial barriers and a lot of meadow, and I wonder for years what to look for in a grass oval. Looks nice - but it leads to overturning often, because you can quickly get stuck on a hill "Digger" or an access road with the tires. The injuries suffered by Steve Park and Bobby Gerhart are some good examples that Pocono seriously needs a security overhaul.

The track layout does not really speak for the known stiff stock race at the Speedway, which owes its name to the surrounding hills. With 2.5 miles on Pocono's actually a super speedway, but can be considered more like Indianapolis: Long, but has too little banking in order to achieve higher cornering speeds. The Trioval has three completely different turns, each of the other circuits are modeled: Turn 1 is similar with 14 ° banking and defunct Trenton Speedway, Turn 2 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is borrowed. This curve with 8 ° elevation is also called "tunnel turn", because under it the entrance to the infield is. The tunnel-turn, which is difficult to drive as is regularly the scene of spectacular cross-Wall uprights and contacts. Turn 3 is similar, with 6 ° of the Milwaukee Mile.

This characteristic means of course a compromise tuning cars, you can not in any of the three different curves are perfect on the road and that's probably also turn 2 so hard to control. Found by the small banking must also be a compromise between speed and downforce. Both the curves should be able to go fast, and a competitive top speed to find the very long straight. Actually, the speedway is therefore rather a challenge for the engineers and not so exciting for the fans who saw the race as many drivers like shortened to 400 miles.

The first race of the season at Pocono, which takes place since 1982, Tony Stewart was able to decide for themselves, after Carl Edwards had previously led the most laps. For this line, it is not uncommon for a car dominated the entire race, because the crew chief has found a very good compromise vote. Such "start-finish victory" have been Kasey Kahne and Kurt Busch retracted. This summer's race at Pocono is already eight years longer, namely since 1974. Summarizing all 62 editions, is as follows Siegerlistel all active drivers, Bill Elliott leads with 5 wins in this list, however, does not at the weekend. Follows in second place Jeff Gordon, who has already won four races. Then come, Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Bobby Labonte and Jeremy Mayfield, each with two wins. Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart and Mark Martin each had one get into Victory Lane.

The winners' list shows that it can actually have any driver of a top team a good, dominant weekend for everyone else to go into the ground. The current top 5 of the championship seems to be a race for such a safe bet, and it is really difficult to type out a winner. Montoya was also strong in the June race and secured an eighth place.

ESPN begins with the preliminary reports by 19 clock, the start of the race is scheduled shortly after 20 clock. On Saturday, already runs the Nationwide Series in Iowa, what brings Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick extended travel in the "Corn State". Here, too, transmits ESPN, but only from 22 clock. Who then would stay up longer, can see the trucks in Nashville: SPEED transfers during the night between Saturday and Sunday from 01:30 clock. In the Nationwide Series and the trucks started the race about half an hour after the start of transmission. As Kyle Busch is not in Nashville shear pin must also have no fear of destroying guitars. He is replaced there by Travis Kvapil.

NASCAR News:
- The COT of the Nationwide Series debut only at the summer race at Daytona in 2010 and 2011 is year-round use. A picture of the new Ford Mustang you can here look.

- Jamie McMurray is the "odd man out" at Roush. Not only that his job will be to find as possible in the next season at Yates, his sponsor, he is lost. Matt Kenseth DeWalt advertises after takeoff from now in 18 races for Crown Royal. The budget for the second half of the season it should be made of other small sponsors. In this context, it was also reported that Paul Menard 2010 will continue at Yates. Whether or get Bobby Labonte McMurray is the second cockpit, not sure.

- Reed Sorenson Richard Petty Motorsports in the future is also uncertain. Possibly the team with the # 44 is closed and AJ Allmendinger takes over the legendary # 43 AJ has a contract through 2010, is on the Treaty of Sorenson I know nothing. Together with Aric Almirola McMurray and he is a good candidate for the vacant cockpit of Martin Truex Jr. at Earnhardt Ganassi Racing.

Formula One: The Background of the BMW withdrawal

BMW thus increases from Formula One. For nine years, it has endured it, you can achieve success is just a few. But the withdrawal is not a bit premature?

BMW_Aus As of Tuesday evening, BMW was announced on short notice, a press conference for today on "Motor Sport", one could imagine what was to come. It runs securely on any two members, if you want to turn their back to the WTCC. So now the withdrawal from Formula One, which was extremely well resolved in the short term. Apparently there has been a board meeting yesterday, we had decided on this step. So much so surprising that there was absolutely no warning. Neither the team nor for himself, Mario Theissen, whose face was revealed today at the press conference, a mixture of totalem shock, incomprehension and frustration. Not even the employees in Hinwil had informed beforehand. According to the MSA experienced some of the exit only when the first journalists have called. There is neither a plan of what you can do with the facilities in Hinwil, nor how to deal with the team. The entire action is almost as if they acted in total panic. It has taken only the decision that it leaves Formula 1 complete and no longer wants to work as an engine manufacturer. How do you want to implement it and what consequences this will have for BMW, we have not considered. The question now is, of course, why BMW has pulled the plug so suddenly.

Formula One: Michael Schumacher's comeback

The second hammer Message of the Day: Michael Schumacher makes his comeback in Formula One.

SFM_logo_unbra Since Saturday is speculation about whether Schumacher will rise back to the car. Amazingly, there was from the start, as usual, otherwise really, no clear denial by Schumacher himself. Instead, the former world champion was silent and left on his spokeswoman align, that he would call in a few days. It was clear that something was in the air, but his manager Willi Weber thought it was "200% sure" that Schumacher will not compete in Valencia. Someone tweeted then, Weber should keep something for 200% absurd, it will be 100% sure that the opposite would arrive. Tonight, the clock at 18.30 then filtered through that Michael Schumacher would actually rise again in a Ferrari F60, a short time later, the confirmation was by himself out on his website and Ferrari, gave the following message drought:

Formula One: BMW before exit?

Somewhat surprisingly, today is night the urgent message that BMW has convened tomorrow morning at 10, a press conference on "Recent developments in motor sport."

Update 07/29/09, 09:49 clock: n-tv allegedly from 10:00 clock with live report from the BMW PK.

Update 07/29/09, 09:35 clock: Spox.com (Live Online) confirmed, citing a press release printed on the spot by the exit from the BMW Formula One at the end of the season.

Update 07/29/09, 09:09 clock: Obviously you have to BMW pulled the plug, not least because they prevail in the FOTA could not, that KERS will be mandatory. BMW has advertised heavily since the beginning of KERS. Spending in F1 would only make sense if one could apply to a strategy of sustainability in the fleet. That was not the case in 2010, a use of KERS or similar elements after 2011 is questionable. The investment in F1 would thus bring nothing. For pure marketing reasons, the rich used in the WTCC and the GT2.

Update 07/29/09, 08:50 clock: Joe Saward is of the opinion that BMW will probably give the team Sauber back and remains as an engine supplier. The idea is not stupid, because it is also about a lot of money that is set free by the new Concorde Agreement. This is an argument, however, the use as an engine supplier takes only a bit if you equip more than one team. As the engines may cost only $ 5 million / season, one must look for another team since.
