Because of all the work I have to share the preview. Since I am traveling tomorrow, but early in Bristol there we go, there are ever NASCAR preview. The TV program for the weekend too. ALMS will follow tomorrow.
NASCAR at Bristol - the Americans call it that. "The greatest show in the Circus Maximus in Rome," probably have it right. Where else but in the U.S., one would think to build a stadium for a 750-meter track and tackle to 160,000 people pure. 160,000 people. Totally stupid idea. Anyone ever been to a sold-out football stadium was Metzitzim 60,000 people, can imagine about how it looks in Bristol.
In addition, it has not saved the banking. There are 36 degrees, and there is no course, the steeper curve in the NASCAR had. So you have one hand, a short track, the other one has high-speed curves. The blend is unique and leads to absurdly high speeds on the oval. Last year was the average speed of the pole sitter (Carl Edwards) at 121 mph, which works out at around 194 km / h The intersection of the winner (and Edwards) were all Cautions (8) and pit stops at 91 mph, which is at least still 146 km / h And that long on a 750 meter track. One can imagine what's going on.
The track is so insane, the races are too. The field with the 43 starters is so long that it fills almost 60% of the route. Whoever starts will be the last, overtaken quickly. It's a bit like in Monte Carlo, because if you stand back, you barely have a chance. Overtaking is difficult in the tiny oval, but has since neuasphaltiert one two years ago, no longer impossible. Since banking is progressive, that rises up out, you can also take the top line and it is no longer enough simply to make only the bottom line tight. However, two equally fast cars are still barely past one another. This means that even drivers who are rounded up, often reluctant to take place as long as they are not very far behind. At the same time provides some long "door-to-door" fun.
The new asphalt has also ensured that the number of accidents has gone down drastically. Double-digit Cautionszahlen were common (record 20, most recently in 2003), the race is not what nature was doing so well. Now it runs much smoother and it will not take 5 hours, until you have a winner. The fuel strategy plays suddenly at the races at Bristol a role.
Since this is the first short track race of the year, forecasts are difficult. Roush looked at the short distances in the last year is not bad, but Kyle Busch has won here already. Gordon and Johnson both like the track, plus Kurt Busch, where you sometimes have to see how the new Dodge engine runs on short distance. And surprise winner there has also been constant. It is therefore an exciting thing, on Sunday evening.
And what else?
WTCC and ALMS I put on tomorrow. Here once the TV previews for the weekend.

I have to give bristol right. the "coliseum" is already misleading. for comparison because spectators in the stadium. I was 1x in the central stadium of a friendly game against bayern munich vfb leipzig. So the old stadium are merely fit where there are 100,000. So that was the absolute madness of the stadium.
I think it's great event!
Little additional info: When I a few years ago in Bristol during the race, there was no tunnel to the infield. During the race, so no in and out. As the teams on both lines have distributed their boxes, also has the effect on the tactics. The faster from training in the home stretch, the better cards. The field is too large. I'm surprised that nobody has come up with the idea for NASCAR to summon at least for such small ovals a special competition. About the style of the driver in the Omnium bike race, which have a race in the program, which eliminated after each round shall be the last. It must not be any round. But what about after 20? So you have always tension and reduced the field to a reasonable level.
