So today there was the big press conference for the new USF1 team, on which a start to 2010 has been announced. I had until now held back on the team because I was not sure whether this should no longer be a PR stunt, but apparently thinks it seriously.

usf1logo-sep08 Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor are now no strangers to the world of motor sport. Windsor is also known in Europe because he has long worked for Williams and Ferrari at a time. In recent years he worked as a commentator and expert on SpeedTV. Ken Anderson has once again collected with the Formula One experience for Ligier. He was technical director at Haas / CNC Tony Stewart before the store and bought up to 50% it is a giant wind tunnel, which could focus on the 1-1 models, which would allow the FIA. But the two really get to 2010, a team at the start? [Update: added a short video of the presentation]

I'm more skeptical, because at today's press conference, they still left many things open. Honestly, I had the impression that one has nothing. There are neither employees, nor is it a test driver, which one does not, however, because we still have no car and a motor is investigated also. Sponsors should be there, but logos was not seen. This is unusual, because actually you'd think that a sponsor grants from day one place. But whether the contracts are not finalized yet, or you are looking for just yet. It speaks well of them that you have a funding until 2010 and not for an entire season.

That the team is based in Charlotte, it must mean nothing. Ferrari sitting in Maranello, BMW wants to go. Of course the team is missing a test track, but the problem with BMW is indeed clear. Well when you want to be the prototype manufacturer Euskadi dock, so you have a base in Europe. Windsor stated that they do because of the distance is not a concern because most of the races anyway would be to travel overseas and is the same for everyone.

True, but USF1 is already dependent on good staff that you can poach from Europe. And then you have to get together with family in the United States. In addition, most teams in England and yes there will be next. Many have worked with different teams and people know each other for ages. Of course you exchange, and this, more or less informal exchanges could be missing the team. But even here one must say that it harms neither Ferrari nor BMW. Or Toyota, I almost forgot.

Of course the idea of a "pure" U.S. team is not bad. U.S. drivers, sponsors, U.S., U.S. employees. But U.S. engines? Since there remains only the name Cosworth, even if the engine shop is now up to declining British - after all it belongs to Gerald Forsythe and Kevin Kalkhoven two Americans. I hardly think that one of the U.S. manufacturer has just the nerve to go into Formula One. Since Cosworth was to build a customer engine anyway mandated by the FIA, it could probably run out on it.

In the pilot we will probably necessarily Danica Patrick. This is understandable and probably also a request from Bernie Ecclestone. Patrick is a megastar in the U.S., it is not slow, even if they rarely see quickly turn right around, and a gigantic advertising. SpeedTV, which probably put a little behind with the deal would "Hallelujah" call, when Patrick would go into F1, because that would drive the wasting away in front of the TV ratings of F1 in the U.S. is somewhat raised. But for the United States are the most races anyway inappropriate at a time.

Second candidate will be Kyle Busch. I would love to see Bush now in Formula One. But then only in a top 3 team, and after much practice and I do not think he gets the approval of Gibbs and / or Toyota. Then, still called Jonathan Summerton. Certainly not a bad young driver who struck me in the A1 already positive, but probably a little too young and too inexperienced for a new team. Could also be in the circle of candidates is Scott Speed, the trust is a continuing involvement in the F1 well, if it is not until the middle of the year in NASCAR runs. Speed also has only a one-year contract. And then there's AJ Allmendinger, who is just a little "everybodys darling", after he has delivered two solid races. He has single-seater experience and should have had the speed, that is a very good decision. One must not forget of course, Graham Rahal and Marco Andretti. The latter was on his missions were also surprisingly good in the A1 road and Andretti in F1 was indeed fine.

The team will probably not make the mistake of using two inexperienced people. But the market's just very well documented. If Honda would disappear with Barrichello and Button are two very good candidates for the cockpit. Not to mention Fisichella, who would make the right amount of dollars for his excellent development work in the United States.

But nothing is out yet. As long as the team is not registered (the deadline is in July or August), which can give many press conferences. I would even want a new team in the formula and press the Yanks just fingers crossed.

And what else?
The BBC has today announced how the transfers should the formula look like one. Why am I writing about? Because the BBC pretty much exactly does the scope, you can get here at Premiere. Plus the fact that the BBC for the Inboard / Racecam offers a split screen. Eat this, transmitter, which has a so-called portal, where you have annoying switch back and forth forever, and that always needs.

I also hope that what will. A U.S. team would be great, after the compound USA Formula 1 is always more the stream went down. As a fan of the Andretti clan, I would hope, of course Marco in F1, but he would finally deliver a solid IndyCars times in the season. The last two years have been penetrated by something (usually either top 5 or crash) and eventually reach the name and status as a "great talent" is no longer ...

Danica and how you said, everyone wants to Danica, because mentioning her name alone brings one already in the news ^ ^ Tony George would be because a lot but it is also, to keep them in the IndyCarSeries, as well as the expected him to be an important source of income in terms of tickets, merchandise and audience ratings. That would ensure him a few dollars worth ... As exciting as it would be to see how it is reflected in F1, I think there's really not your turn.

hmm Danica Patrick would certainly be a great PR move by GAG. Because I do not think they would just tear something in F1. Just look at the DTM ladies. Somehow women just do not quite fit into the motor sports. And at the G-forces exerted on the driver there, it's no wonder. In oval racing may answer the still, but very demanding course I have my doubts.

What are the benefits for a U.S. team with no U.S. Grand Prix? Currently there are no races in North America. Without race in the USA with U.S. Formula 1 team and Danica Patrick will not find much to audiences in the United States. When Formula 1, it is really serious about the U.S., they should go 2 times per year in the U.S. and one in Canada. When we had the race in prime time, so I would not mind.
This one will get Danica is understandable but I think it's a crazy idea. There should be no one raised only because of sex in the F 1. Danica's rather good on ovals, so if it were not a woman no one would come up with the idea to bring in the F 1. Andretti because I'd already fallen significantly better. One hears, too, that Mario wants to see him like so and so long in the F 1 ...

The whole idea is absurd nonsense. Even if one assumes that the Formula 1 budget would drop from 350 million euros to 80 million, for me, everything else is taken for granted could be operated for the same money a 4-car NASCAR team (or several years the full IndyCar Series, or the naming rights for a dozen arenas in the major leagues, or ...) that 36 instead of one race per year, which take place at reasonable TV time, millions of fans, contracts with major television networks and on top of that a presence in the general consciousness of the nation.

So why should a potential sponsor to invest (good luck in the search, guys!) In a Formula 1 team, which has in the U.S. minimal awareness that needs to be rebuilt (asks times at bat, BAR, Honda and Toyota to see how much fun that) and probably can not celebrate short-term success.

For me, the press has only shown that these two gentlemen would like to implement the idea of a Formula 1 team, but also fail even at the simple question, why do you settle that especially in North Carolina wants. Sorry guys, but the question can you prepare yourself, and when you ready, despite years of preparation, not alleged at least reasonably coherent response has is that simply unprofessional.

For me ne PR Blase.Allein NC as the site without racing in the U.S. or Canada can not gehen.Dazu the economic crisis, which makes it in America even before small amounts in the Nascar is not just how you want to get together since 100 Mille? Even the naming of names such as Danica and Kyle Busch shows that it is in the midst of a dream bubble.

@ Wolli: In NASCAR, the times of "small" amounts of long past ...

Also, I would find it great, but I believe it only when the team competes for the first race.

there are still many small sponsors of NASCAR, not only the large main sponsors, but even the small considering whether Nascar still worth-what I meant with the small amounts of ^ ^

So I'm also very skeptical. I think it has NoteMe as expressed very well. Especially now in times of financial crisis simply times stomping a new team from the ground - is this to me more like wishful thinking. Especially when I read the driver's name. Kyle Busch and Danica Patrick? I am familiar with the driver salaries while not look now, but I think especially Kyle Busch would be a little too high for the team. Sure, he is not well known in Europe, but in the U.S. even more. Here he earns the big bucks. In addition: It would be a new inexperienced team, he could only follow behind. If however, I see how he stands in NASCAR: he usually goes for the win with last year and he had a realistic shot at the title (at least at the start of the Chase). I see no reason why he should leave NASCAR. Sure, if he had already achieved a lot, so one or more Cup title would have won, then he might have no more motivation. But so? There is the change from NASCAR for USF1 team just a descent. And I say that I can not suffer at all Kyle Busch.

So the good shows but how realistic my assessment of this team. They want Kyle Busch? I want a date with Salma Hayak. Both will not happen.
