News from NASCAR are currently in short supply. It prepares for the "Banquet" before, so even the tradional meeting of the ten best drivers in New York. Otherwise, the wheels stand still, even if there is actually plenty to do.
NASCAR is probably the most difficult season in decades before. The days of endless growth are over. The manufacturers are all suffering from the crisis (even Toyota ), Dodge and wobbles a lot of teams have absolutely no sponsor for next year. In the season opener at Daytona is still everything seems fine, but then you will already get problems at all to have a full starting field. Some assume that the 43 cars just get together, look at some other more infamous race 35 or even fewer cars on the starting line. And the TV stations want to save also:
ESPN and FOX have both announced that they will restrict the reporting a bit. Not much, but you will go with less own cameras and staff to the track. Reason here for the ratings of the Fallen series. Less ratio = less advertising revenue. The cost of the spots rushing down, while many companies are limiting their spending and look for alternative advertising opportunities on the Internet.
Really hard hit are the teams: Ganassi / Earnhardt (GER) still has no sponsor for the # 8, Waltrip continues to look for money for a car. Montoya is missing half a sponsor. Furniture Row has officially announced that it will take 2009 no longer full season and Bill Davis Racing had to release Dave Blaney, because you can not find a sponsor for # 22. At Red Bull one has raised the idea of a third team on the nail, and now just goes with Scott Speed and Brian Vickers.
The list of the ferry, which are called "free agent" in the market is surprisingly long: AJ Allmendinger, Patrick Carpentier, Jeremy Mayfield, Joe Nemechek, Kyle Petty, Scott Riggs, Johnny Sauter, Ken Schrader, Mike Wallace, JJ Yeley. Even the "Rookie of the Year" this year, Regan Smith, sitting on the street. No or only a partial sponsor, the # 00 (Reutimann / Waltrip), 7 (Robby Gordon), 8 (Aric Amirola), 10 (Sorenson / GEM), 21 (Wood Brothers), 22 (Bill Davis Racing), 28 (Kvapil / Yates), 38 (Gilliland / Yates), 39 (Newman / Stewart-Hass has only U.S. Army for 18 races), 42 (Montoya / GER, has only Wrigly for 19 races), 43 (Labonte / GEM), 44 (McCumbee / GEM), 96 (Hall of Fame)
Various news
Just for the record:
- In 2009, BMW will be traveling in the WTCC
- Lada is planning a factory entry in the WTCC, but do not know if you can not homologate a new car.
- Ford is rising (again) in the BTCC. Volvo holds back yet. GM would like to sell Volvo and the store has its former owners in Sweden (Volvo content) offered. They have turned down gratefully. This also shakes the WTCC entry of Volvo.
- Jacques Villeneuve driving the entire Speedcar Series.
- Porsche will probably withdraw completely from the ALMS and still operate with the GT3 Cupserien. The GT2 cars (cars are customers anyway) and the RS Spyder customers are not affected, but if the development should be set by Porsche, makes a bet, only limited meaning.
And what else?
Sorry, forgot the TV preview. But anyway just repetitions and little of it. Data are online until Friday, then on Friday including the live race of the GP2 Asia. Unfortunately still not found a stream for the Speedcar Series.

Porsche plans to withdraw completely from the ALMS ... what does that mean? The RS Spyder LMP2 was abolished and the GT2 cars too? Then the series is almost dead, if Audi stays away too. Or there will be only private operations? Have you got more information or to NEN link I can find nothing on the fly ...

There stands a little @ Prometheus
"Ford ... GM would like to sell ..." I think you mean ääähm Volvo ;-)
@ Dark-hawk:
May be good ... :)
@ Prometheus:
Information, floating around the Sun It affects only the LMP2 Penske and only. Customer cars to drive on, of course, the cars in the GT2, those are not factory cars.
Thank you!
Then it is probably 2009, an LMP2 class without a "top teams" and give no factory teams and there will be a nice little battle of the privateers, the survival and stick because of what one can only hope.
And in the GT2 hopefully we will see further, the 911, otherwise this will probably be a Ferrari passage. I can not believe that the BMW M3 in the first year that really offer the forehead and the Viper, Panoz and Ford GT are unfortunately limited competitive.

(Sorry for the piece of work ^ ^)
@ Dark-hawk & Don
The Volvo passenger car division to Ford, is currently Ford would like to part with money from this killing machine, but strangely enough there is now, as opposed to Tata for Land Rover and Jaguar, no degree with a heart for hard Sweden.
