Hard to believe but true - the NASCAR 2008 season is starting this weekend story. 37 of 38 races behind us and the master of all probability, as in the last year and the year before that is called Jimmie Johnson. He would be only the second NASCAR driver who manages this feat. But for this he must of course only go once the race at Homestead. His lead is great, but a tiny chance of Carl Edwards after all.
The thing is quite clear. I cited at me it by myself out of my post from Monday:
Johnson now leads with 141 points. The bill is very simple:
For a win you get 185 points. A tour round are 5 bonus points, you have come to the end, most laps led to 5 more. In NASCAR, there are already points when you are racing. Johnson will start next weekend, so he is on the track when the green flag drops, he is ever at least 43rd and Sun gets to 34 meters. Power of 175 points, also had to make up for Edwards. Because he can score a maximum of 195 points, Johnson has only 36th or better, to take his third title. Should not be a problem. But went with his teammate Jeff Gordon yesterday and the engine high in the first round of 266 (of 313). Had failed because by the time only two other drivers, Gordon only finished 41st So everything is still possible, but Edwards can win only if Johnson fails completely soon. And he would, as mentioned, won only once.
The course is run in Miami, only to end of the season and has his own ways. Besides the usual length of 1.5 miles, there is a progressive banking. Starts at 18 degrees below your ears, on top of 20 degrees. Not very much, but still enough to drive significantly different lines can. Otherwise, just does what is true for every 1.5 miles oval: the motor is loaded, Cautions There are not that many and at the end of it all can turn into a gasoline drama. With Caution, there is such a thing. Last year there were seven of them with very little, but in 2004 it was 14 pieces. Since many riders in the final race still fighting for a spot for next year, it could have something to be rougher.
For many drivers means taking the last race of 2008, farewell. Tony Stewart is leaving after 10 years, Joe Gibbs, Ryan Newman walks away from Penske, Ganassi leaves Reed Sorenson, who give up their independence and in turn go to the roof of DEI. Thus, they are also customers of Chevy and Dodge loses a customer. AJ Allmendinger has a new contract yet, but I can not imagine that he only "part-time" will be on the road.
Say goodbye to it for the first time NASCAR last season with full coffers. The economic problems hit now fully on the team and the manufacturer is by NASCAR and is aware that next year something will have to change. We're talking about a total test ban (which would save about $ 1 million per car) to more standard parts on the car.
But still we have is 2008 and drive a race. Is actually liked Carl Edwards, who has not yet won, but the Roush team is all very popular. I'm looking forward to the last race because starting next week you have to until 07.02. , consider what to do with his Sunday evenings Sun
Before I forget, in the CTS and the NW, it is also for the championship. In the NW Clint Bowyer leads Carl Edwards still relatively comfortably in front, but the 56 points range now not really to be able to rest. Bowyer has been in the Top Ten come if he does not want to sweat too much, and if Edwards wins the race. In the CTS, it looks more closely, because Benson and Hornaday separated just 3 points. In other words, whoever is in front of the other, wins the championship.
WTCC - Macau
Only briefly - on the street circuit of Macau completely stupid, it goes around again. The F3 Masters and WTCC are probably the highlights. It is clear that can be in only one seat touring car champion driver. Yvan Muller is actually due, because he leads with 14 points ahead of Tarquini. But since you can pick out up to 18 points on a weekend, there is still a mathematical chance. In the Manufacturers' Championship SEAT is already champion. The race also has more character show what the race of the WTCC has always done so very well. Were it not for the miserable time difference - but the sport € WTCC graciously repeated the early evening and the rest goes on MotorsTV.
And what else?
Wheels / Speed is still gone. Too bad, but can not be changed. Would not the first time that the station disappears for a time only to reappear again. I have the data listed yet, should appear somewhere in another stream.
