NASCAR: Salo wants to clean / F1: fuel stops away?

NASCAR apparently is still interesting for many former Formula One driver. The Finn Mika Salo, many years traveling in the U.S. in the ALMS, was spotted last weekend at Lowe's Speedway. Apparently explores the Finn from even know if there might be a team that has interest in him. I know the sponsorship package of Salo, but the last two years have actually shown clearly that there are few drivers who make the leap from touring or formula cars to NASCAR. Notable exception was here Montoya, whose power they have in light of the problems, the top drivers like Franchitti and Sam Hornish Jr., the higher rate must be.

If Salo is seriously considering a start, was not rauszubekommen, but if I was team leader of a Sprint Cup team, I would put each changer from another series only once for at least half a year in the Nationwide Series, to see how he as proposed. Even experienced pilots NW, Joey Logano, for example, have problems in the Cup. Because it sure helps, once you exercise a few months. A good example here is for Marcus Ambrose, who has worked in recent years upwards.

Formula One - Fallen off the fuel stops?
In Formula One is currently much discussion behind the scenes. It's about the show, but it's also about the cost, in the wake of the financial crisis are simply no longer viable. The rush to push the Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosely has agreed to reduce the cost is at least an indication that some team has been lit the tree. Williams is in danger, Force India is not a loose candidate, but the Indian investors also see the dark clouds and consider saving options. One of them goes straight through the paddock: it has reportedly already made a deal with McLaren that will deliver from next year, parts of the chassis and the engine. This would then also the vexing subject of "customer cars" off the table because it was with Williams, especially FI, which are run against the customer cars storm. The dock at McLaren, it will come up with something for Williams (monetary), or pick up in the course of their cost savings at Toyota chassis.

One of the things that are already eliminated in the next year, the fuel stops. Ecclestone had originally introduced, so there is more action in the race, and the teams play in the strategy. But the stops cost money and Sicherheitsabspekt in the last race so was not too bad either. What are the arguments for:

Arguments that are positive for a fuel stop:
- More strategic possibilities
- More unpredictability in racing due to errors or problems
- Even less overtaking, when it will stop the

Arguments that are positive for a race without stops:
- Security
- The teams would go in the qualifier at last the pace, they have the same tank of gas
- A whole race full throttle, which together with the new aero rules (supposedly) will provide more action

In principle, I can make friends with an elimination - as long as consumption does not degenerate into a formula. I really do not want to see them back again miserably boring races from the 80s, where they went just behind the other in order to save fuel. And then rolled at the end of the putative winner also still without gasoline. That does not really need to be, and it would in my view, the Formula One again completely uninteresting. As long the car enough fuel on board to drive an entire race, and when the cars are in the race the way, no matter which route they take to overtake is that fine with me because you still have the possibility has to pull in some moments (safety car), new tires. But the question of new slicks would be able to change much in the race eventually.

If only refueling stops removed or the tires?
Per your second argument is not necessarily advantageous. When driving in the Qualy already with the "true" speed in all car sort of position on the line speed and it is only when a rider in the race Überhomanöver with decreasing fuel is clearly better.
The best are starting positions, which correspond to the potential of not just the car.

When the fuel stops are removed, this is clearly a change of direction back to the consumption of formula:

Refueling stops -> no refueling stops -> Maximum fuel load -> reduction of the maximum fuel load (+ green painted tires == 1A clean environmental conscience)

As already wrote ethone Con # 2 leads to Valencia accordion-like race plus I do not understand why should arrive Con # 3 - where is the incentive for, without refueling always go full throttle? Rather, I saw the opposite, because without refueling, the incentive to minimize weight and thus is reducing consumption through much of the race.

    The fill-ups:
Yes good idea but only if everyone has to start with the same amount of fuel. There can be no pockern that it starts with not so much during the race to have a weight advantage and the danger will roll out in the purchase. In addition, the amount will be calculated so that the drivers are really good through the race and still remains a Remote Buffer. Whether it but the security is really beneficial to take such large quantities of gasoline over the place, I doubt it.

Then you can draw lots for the starting positions of all the same. No kidding: overtaking not have everything. At the pinnacle of motor sport should surely the team that built the fastest car within the rules and / or may be the best rider in front and one should not constantly thinking about how to reduce their benefit worked out.

Moreover, I am against customer cars, but I could get used to a consumption formula already.

I agree wholeheartedly. However, one could still build the aerodynamics so that it favors the Afterward Travellers and the front man disadvantage.

Refueling is allowed blöd.Entweder abolish it or to write vor.Man should make them available to each team, whether and how much you fill up will.In Monaco is already a long time ago but I'd rather be back durchgefahren.Dann abolish the tire change, a equipment should not be a problem, durable tires backen.Oder but would the pit stop crew verringern.Statt 3 man at the tire only one. Either way Graymidget and Leatherface will concoct what again, what had not gefällt.Bernie once the black hole created in the F1 own zone, but now he comes out of the maelstrom not get out ^ ^

So there is so much atm spread of rumors and lobbying operation, it will probably take another few weeks until there is clarity. FI really wants to have Mercedes engines, transmissions and may prefer including KERS. Speaking against the bestehene but for 2009 and valid contract with Ferrari ...
As long as F. Williams and P. Head have not yet resigned, Williams will probably close down rather than buy the chassis. Today I read that the 30 million bandied loss are from the 2006 fiscal year. In the current fiscal year is supposed to (yet) worked to cover costs.
If we are honest, the teams are still, despite all the austerity measures hit them out of the available budget completely. That will change only when the major sponsors pay less.
To let the fuel stops disappear just as I think it's a stupid idea as the 2010 with 1.6 liter turbo unit engines, which will hold 10 races to go.
