F1 - Motor dispute / NASCAR - Decisions

Since the victory of Toro Rosso at Monza, the discussion about the motor system is completely broken. While Red Bull with the Renault engine runs behind, the STR provides the first victory of a Red Bull team. And, although it still lags two to three chassis development steps behind the parent team. At Red Bull says it openly, that are looking to the differences between the two teams with the engines and Renault can not seem to really explain why one behind so depends. McLaren and Ferrari's engines comply with the FIA regulations: Sure is. Both engines have been checked, the last time the engine of massage from the Spa race. What exactly Ferrari, McLaren and BMW knows fumble as the external organs of the drives so rum not as accurate, but it seems to be too expensive.

Because Renault has recognized the seriousness of the situation and promised to immediately put more money into the development. This is probably supposed to be a sign in the direction of Alonso, who has apparently still not decided. But it's not just Renault - obviously you have at Honda, which have been rumored before the freezing of the engines to have the weakest units, and not much work on, because the chassis so bad now can not be, that one struggle with one hand craft Force India needs.

What to do? The teams continue to have a free hand? This will sooner or later lead to the gray scale of the regulations are fully utilized and the thing completely out of control. If you drive legally yet who does not? Or regulate the motors so strict that it almost has a motor unit, as is the case in NASCAR? Or you just go the way that it determines the engine power to a certain level and then the engines on a regular basis (ie after each race) is checked and if necessary an Air Restrictor missed?

In the last-mentioned variants, manufacturers are likely to run amok. Remains probably the only solution to quickly stamp a new engine formula from the ground. 1.4 liter turbo engines with any hybrid or other solutions are indeed talking. Since the point is, however, do nothing before 2011, what has to happen before, otherwise degenerates the upgrade continues.

Formula One - Chassis customers
Actually, the thing is so off the table. From 2010, all team compete with its own chassis, and Torro Rosso, which is why the racing team is looking for a new long-term partner, not because Red Bull wants to be with two teams on the road. Which is understandable. However, we must also not forget that manufacturers are not exactly lining up to join the series. The 12th slot of Prodrive will remain as empty as the Super Aguri. Would not it make more sense to allow foreign drivers to? I can have the abdominal pain, the FIA, Williams and Force India in the matter, quite understand. The planning of Prodrive built ultimately on the fact that they had placed a second McLaren team. And no one wanted because it pushes the costs up for all teams. But I wonder, why can not walk to get there, and the FIA in the boat gets a third-party. Panoz and Dallara chassis may well produce a reason that they sell to interested teams who can then adapt to their needs. As can be seen at Red Bull / STR, which apparently can make when you have two different engines.

That would keep costs down and increase the incentive to enter into Formula One. But again, nobody listens to me yes. :)

NASCAR - News

- Dodge, the rumors, it would be after 2009 in the Sprint Cup withdraw demetiert vigorously:

We plan to continue as partners in NASCAR. We're aware and have had discussion about GEM's interest in adding a fourth car, but there's never been discussion about running anything but a Dodge. Anything beyond that, we classify as pure speculation.

To Ganassi, he has expressed not so clearly, except that it had "long-term contracts." As is now not so much, and the Ganassi / Waltrip merger is, in my opinion is still hot.

- Jay Frye, team manager of Red Bull, who since the beginning of the year the team has extended its contract with RB United States. Previously, Tony Stewart was probably on the verge to get Frye to Stewart / Haas. He can now forget. Frye has also had the same hints that AJ Allmendinger is not very high up on his wish list. Obviously you want to try in 2009 with Scott Speed. Allmendinger to requests from some IRL teams. It is alleged that IRL boss Tony George tried behind the scenes in haste to get the U.S. drivers in the series, because you probably would like to see a successful U.S. pilots in the series.

The senseless freezing the engines pick up again, period. Either you have the right to (even technically) Champions League or not? In other racing series provide significantly more often, the F1 draws its fascination also strong in the art. Very interesting, I think, therefore, the idea to prescribe only one fuel quantity that may be used up.

Then we would be back in the mid 80s. As we could not fill up and then after you see some cars roll out again in the final laps. No thank you.

That would at least be able to exciting races (not just when it's wet). Even in terms of KERS a fuel cap would make total sense. If the cars have again become too fast, you can also very easy lap times by reducing the maximum consumption to bring down.

You've probably all seen any races in the 80 ... then the use restriction, led to the most boring race that has seen the Formula One ever. We drove around just long in the wind shadow behind the other trying not to be in the front, so as not to consume too much fuel. At the end of quite a few retired then with an empty tank on the last lap. This has nothing really to do with motorsport.

That comes with the shuttling around long after the other looks familiar ... that's what I know of today's Formula 1! You're right, in the 80's I have seen little or no F1 race. Nevertheless, I am always annoyed when I spent 1.5 hours with having seen a single relevant overtaking and the only tension arises from the fact that there are differences in the boxing ...
The last two races because the laudable exception, because it was wet. I'm still glad I do not see the race in Valencia could. I must say that today's most exciting F1 is often in the qualifying session on Saturday.

"Long-only round in the wind shadow behind the other"? That's more than we usually get to see today. Incidentally, I do not think that a fuel limit has nothing to do with racing, because it offers challenges for teams and drivers that are missing from a unit series. And as far as failures (which I consider to be unlikely anyway), the World Cup would probably make even more exciting.

It is also clear that the proposal would not be a panacea. But it's simply not in the Champions League have decided to make everything unify.

I'm not a fan of Mosley'schen cost shifting rules in recent years. Get rid of the absurd as holey development moratorium. Away with the multi-race engines. Way to fuel quality and in the last set Abstimmugen. Get rid of the ban on replacement vehicles.

And when we're at it, even away with the grooved tires, get rid of the electronics and chassis restrictions, away with the points system for winning and for squirrels and forth with an aerodynamic limit of Monza level.

    Phew. It felt good.

    @ NoteMe
I fully agree. Except for the F1 aerodynamics needs no restrictions in terms. I'm very glad that you have understood it, at least the tires last. The prankster, who invented this is not grooved tires to racing (at least not in the sports formula). Formula 1 has enough unique characteristics because one does not need such tricks. Why do you have the tires at that time just did not harder, then the lap times would have been decreased by themselves very quickly.

One should indeed generally hear once more to the fans, the same goes for other racing series ...
But as Don himself has written, to "outsiders" is so rarely or never heard, so it can power be lost.
