F1 - Donington / NASCAR - DEI prior to sale / More News

Update 22:57 clock: The penalty for Truex Jr. is out. 150 points deduction, 100,000 dollar fine for crew chief, who is locked in the six races. The car of Truex Jr. was rattled last Thursday by the inspection of NASCAR. For details of what was in the car not all right, there is no other than the statement that there was something in the aerodynamic field. This Truex falls in battle for a place in the Chase back in 18th place, and it would be difficult for him in the remaining eight races to create the still. The penalty could also be the last nail in the coffin in the tense relationship anyway be between him and the team. Supposedly he could replace Ryan Newman at Penske, should go to Stewart / Haas.

Like most well-known indeed, the British Grand Prix at Donington Park from 2010 will be held. And supposedly the same for ten years. The decision by Bernie Ecclestone was somewhat surprising, and so it was not too nice, just on the race weekend at Silverstone to announce the decision today. On the other hand, Ecclestone has slept for years with the owner of the track, the BRDC (out of Damon Hill and Sir Jackie Stewart) on the cross. Since a perceived eternity he calls significant improvements to the infrastructure, repeated the mantra that BRCD, too much was it, but unfortunately it lacked money, let's see, maybe next year. And now Ecclestone is apparently torn out of patience and he has opted for Donington. For whatever else he might have been happy to deliver the GP in central London, but the chances of this are more than minimal. Hard to imagine that in the summer, so lame between the Queen's birthday and the crowds of tourists, half the city sets. Other tracks do not fit. Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Snetterton, Thruxton - all nice, but way too small, too narrow and too far away. There was actually only Donington Park

The course is designed for Formula One situation is a joke. Just 4.1 km long umkurvte min Alain Prost in 1993 in the course of training in just 1:10. Presumably you are now a few seconds faster. That's hard on the border. In addition, the distance is closer than you might think. There are, in principle, but three of overtaking opportunities. The first corner after the start / finish, when braking into the "Old Hairpin" and the hook behind the chicane before the pits. The track is the very fast, which now does not make overtaking easier. It is not a bad track, but of all the British lines definitely not the best. But unfortunately so are all other routes away from safety.

Donington will be renovated, of course, by Hermann Tielke. There is also talk that the distance is extended. Looking at the map I do wonder: Where? How?

There are a few ways but it does it very cooperative neighborhood and that costs big money. What you do not have that the operator has the course been added. It would now go into negotiation. Then he had the idea that viewers will share the renovation, in which they buy seats. The idea sounds funny only once, but it is not stupid as they were. When building a new stadium, it is normal to the expensive VIP boxes already sold off and so financed the construction. The operators are also fully in the Hamiltonian wave. Silverstone was sold out on all three days, which is needed in Donington.

In terms of accessibility, however, one comes from bad to worse. There is also an airport nearby, but not exactly a one-lane road from the highway leading to the track. Have fun.

NASCAR - News
That's the hottest rumor times of the month. Teresa Earnhardt, DEI will reportedly sell its racing team. And this completely, not just the car and the name, but the garage and everything what belongs there. There should also be a buyer: DEI director Max Siegel. The report is unusual because the store had a sale Teresa always excluded. But the junior has gone, DEI has gradually fallen apart. Recently we lost Mark Martin of Hendrick Motorsports and sponsor of the U.S. Army is also looking for new opportunities. What all is not as bad as the supposed departure of Paul Menard. Whose car is purely a customer's car, the father of Paul Menard paid. Menard is lost as a sponsor, it does not look good. In addition, the sponsor of Truex Jr., Bass Pro Shop, as a possible sponsor for the new Stewart / Haas team is traded. It looks not so good right out at DEI. We hear that the employees see the blame Teresa Earnhardt, who had driven with her headstrong behavior the star of the team. But with junior left a whole lot more good people to racing. But the loss of the Eury family should have done it away.

In the U.S., it is speculated that the investors could be behind a couple of corners, including junior, the team his father would have again. During negotiations last year, he will have his stepmother a buyout offer, but this is frustrated by excessive demands. The relationship between him and Max Siegel is however still considered very good. Although this possibility must be considered highly speculative, it is quite possible. Junior should have enough money.

Update: Max Siegel has ruled out a sale compared to ESPN for the moment. People talk but probably with other investors.

Unfortunately, there is still no news about the penalty in terms of Truex Jr. I carry on.

- Robby Gordon, Jacques Villeneuve has offered to provide a car. If because of the Canadians getting enough money together. It seems certain that Villeneuve will go at Nationwide race in Canada for Gordon at the start.

And what else?
Am tomorrow on the highway. On Thursday, it goes on.
