Overlooked: Today we're back for training in Daytona! And there the night at 02.00 clock the Grand Am race live on Speed. See TV Preview.
Well, Silverstone. A cross-section boring for the spectators, but not for drivers. As already would be the first corner, named after the start and finish, Copse. A lightning-fast number that goes with about 250 to 270 km / h. But only if the curve also exactly true. A tad turned in too early or too late and you find yourself in the dust of the outlet zone, and again on the next straight section has a problem. Better take a little more slowly, and run up behind an opponent can. Then comes Maggotts, Becketts and Chapel, the three saints of Silverstone. A really nasty curve combination that is always close to the course then aufzumacht again. Again, precision work. Who's sleeping, shall be punished on the following Hangar Straight. Then comes a boring piece, but the entrance to the infield has it all. Bridge will also be taken in sixth gear, and who takes off here, it caught the evil, as Fisichella Trulli was able to report. Three sharp turns, then comes Luffield, a very difficult point, because you want to be happy on the gas early, but wait, because otherwise you end up in botany.
As I said - for spectators rather bad, because you're not experiencing the speed, the driver was pretty demanding. But this year it will rain all weekend - and do it properly. Continuous rain, there will be not, but more times heavy showers, then nothing for a while. This should therefore be very interesting and powerful field muddle. Who is a good rain driver? Sure - Alonso is one of the best, even if he has broken down in the rain in the last year of his McLaren Fuji. Massa is rather mediocre, with Raikkonen, I'm not sure. I can not in a good wet races of his recall, but he's just back fin and then should be able also. Hamilton can be good (again, Fuji) but worst (China), I do not know when Kubica, Heidfeld goes like this. JT is definitely not a rain driver, rather then Glock, Sebastian Vettel, but is probably to be reckoned with. Rubens Barrichello just as I would not underestimate at the weather. Mark Webber in Fuji was also doing well, he likes those conditions. And then there's Adrian Sutil should appear only in the driving rain. Not that I be misunderstood: all F1 drivers are fantastic riders, keep an F1 car with 750 hp in the wet without traction control is on the line, just been an interesting task.
Therefore it is extremely difficult to identify a favorite. No idea who has the best rain setup, no idea who the most courage. Sure - Sutil will not go to the poles, but there is always a surprise. And as we all know wet races are very special.
The question is only how much water is on the line? At Silverstone, the water runs off not fast, which is difficult for a Formula One car. Even with the "heavy wets" to swim up and aquaplaning on the Hangar Straight nobody really needs. If it really shaking of cats and dogs, you will probably start the race behind the safety car and to wait and see. As you drove in Fuji but I'm assuming that it will also make it at Silverstone, but a "race" that would then not. Mixing ratios and a steady light rain are rather better.
Various news
- David Coulthard has, as expected, his resignation as a Formula One pilot announced. He will continue to work for Red Bull, but looks good with an eye to the United States. Since his visit to the NASCAR there are rumors that he might one day be the go here. Coulthard's career was rather mixed. In fact, he was never able to score a major title. Neither the F3000 or F3 or in the F1. He won in 1991, the F3 Masters at Zandvoort and the Macau race, but that's about it already. His best chance at a title he messed up the Finn Mika Hakkinen, McLaren and Mercedes in particular had a better champion. Never forget his first win for Mercedes to drop after their return to F1, but also as the order of 1998, the first (!) Race of the year behind the Finns to win the could. The move to Red Bull and he did so well after all, he clearly showed that even a Mark Webber cook only with water. The speed at which he sometimes lacks, he makes up for with intelligence of his race. His successor will probably Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull would do well, the public relations charade to end the change as quickly as possible.
- If Vettel to Red Bull's, will probably dock at Bruno Senna STR. That now seems to be reasonably safe. The message that he intended to replace Heidfeld at BMW, is nonsense.
- It appears that Heidfeld, as I once thought, actually getting an ultimatum set. Either he catches up to the summer break, or the contract is gone, or is so transmogrified, that he considered the number two is on the way. It is still not clear that Heidfeld is actually released. The problem is that Kubica's contract runs out this year too, and who has ever flirted with Renault. This was widely interpreted as a tactic to drive up the price for BMW, but you never know. At the Alonso / BMW No. I do not think it would be abservieren Heidfeld probably a little colder.
- The Spaniard is more often associated with Honda Logo. Ross Brawn, the old fox said, though, that you can not afford Alonso, and the former world champion would probably prefer to go to Ferrari, but it's probably time talk. I think the Honda rumors not likely. Ross Brawn does not do things by halves.
- Dario Franchitti has received from Felix Sabates, a part owner of the Ganassi team, the offer, either immediately or in the IRL to try to enter in the Nationwide Series. As it stands, it will probably be the NW. I think it's not a bad idea. The direct entry into the Sprint Cup's just always such a thing and it would have been better if they'd let him range only once in the small series, so he has more time and not as a high pressure.
And what else?
There are rumors that Toyota will start on a Yaco Racing WTCC test balloon and entrains from the WTCC Oschersleben. And indeed with a Yaris Auris, the thing is called now. (What was so bad at names, "Corolla"?)
Mike Kranefuss is 70 years old , which is ever beautiful. Almost as nice, however, is the announcement that he sits on his biography.

I think the violent accident at the Bridge Corner was not Trulli and Fisichella. Or an accident of Fisico I've forgotten.

FOR THE OPERATIONS. Rain at Silverstone: As far as I am informed, is the road after a rain rubble fairly quickly dry again.
This is due to the sometimes strong winds and wide open terrain. Thus, the route is relatively quickly blown dry.
Where metcheck the weather now is something clear. On Friday's no rain on Saturday and announced it will only rain in the morning, for quality dry weather is announced.
For the race, however, are still shudder announced.
What about the rumor that Vettel may Raikönen replaced at Ferrari should withdraw this?
I do not know how much truth there is to it. However, if Ferrari would embark on such a young driver (21), is another question. But two years experience as F1 should be already.
@ Raziol: The water then runs off quickly when it stops raining. In the FIA GT races, the water was quite long on the track. Fisico did you right, it was Trulli. Since I was a year too early in my memory.
@ Hwk: Well, I do not think so. Too young, too inexperienced. Then, rather Alonso.
