No more to € MotoGP sport

It was announced over the whole year already, but since today it's official : € sports, perceived since 50 years partner loses the motorcycle World Championship, the European broadcast rights. The "Dorna" holds since 1992 the international advertising and TV rights for the world championship. Previously, it was connected with € sports partner for many years, but already since last year there were rumors that they wanted to get rid of € sport. The reason for the attempted Dorna's rights no longer Europe, but to market nationally. The leaders hope to here that you can sell the rights individually more expensive than in the total package to € sport. In the case of England has also worked before, because there does the BBC transmissions.

In Germany, it looks bad. Would have to establish itself after a vain attempt to MotoGP at RTL, there are not many stations, the interest in the rights. For a time there was a rumor that ZDF would be interested in the rights, but that is not be so. The Dorna says that Germany has found a private channel with "high range". In the absence of sports broadcasters in this country is the logistic variant that takes over the rights of the DSF. I do not think that RTL burn their fingers again, or SAT.1 einsteigt. Not exclude, however, that Premiere fishing in the background after the pay-TV rights.

How big is the loss of € sports, can be difficult to say. Since the transmitter but all trainings / Qualifying session was broadcast live, which seems a real workhorse motorcycle World Championships have been. It is the transmitter be difficult to fill this gap. The fans will not just be happy. On the one most likely to fall off the transfer of training and qualification sessions, on the other hand you have to wait and see where the rights actually land. Should strike the DSF, then you will have to change pretty. The summary of the FIA GT race last Sunday went reasonably well, but it took quite a long time, until you saw the pictures first race (11 minutes). The advertising interruptions, however, were surprisingly limited. Germany is an important market and the show on DSF to hide I think is a bad idea.

You may now curse the Dorna, but they do not help much without consultation with the manufacturers. I'm not an expert in MotoGP and do not know exactly what's happening behind the scenes, but to change a long-time broadcaster simply times out without consultation with manufacturers and major sponsors. Whether you end up not cutting into your own flesh? I'm not sure if the MotoGP this alone is capable of supporting the entire world championship, at times, the Superbike World Championship is now not much worse. And the sport continues to €.

sorry don, I've seen it now that you've done so for a reporting moto gp and Dorna. there actually is your net motogp case I was thinking! : D

But as I have already written in the chat. a better transmitter of euro sport does not exist for the Dorna / motogp. Although sometimes wanders qualified to ES2, but the run at over 6 hours on it renntag live! and things like that are definitely not to rtl, sat 1 or pro7. thinking of ore ard / ZDF. the race to bring security to even the motogp would!

Dorna has an imagination at all to get where they want? they say yes they want to remain free to air tv. so many people there are not options. pro7/sat1 are so low or so. for those who are so concerned about the champions league right. I think there is no space for motogp. rtl is because I believe with full cost of the F1!

Dorna - for they know not what they do ... xP

Perhaps we should think to solve problems from the German and European context? Who says that no one in the markets with affinity moped through this piece of cake model so much more can knock out that it is not of interest, will be transferred if and at what price the motorcycle world championship even peripherally involved in Germany?

But honestly to me that quark matter is abundant. Dorna has executed only their top series, and tried the same thing now with the 250. IMHO, does the problem of transmission of the medium itself

If it is really the DSF, then good-night motorcycle championship. Do you know the Sunday of the pre-lunch program DSF? They will not change security for "any type" to "small Mopets" BuLi their successful program. The appointment Doppelpüass 11-13 clock has long been firmly established and well Bundesliga Pur is for me (and probably many football fans) a futures obligations. On the live images of the 123er and 250er we will probably have to do without.
Very good job Dorna, very very good

The situation will deteriorate beyond words from the German perspective. This fact can only be concluded that Germany is not one of the key countries of DORNA.

At least in the UK the problem is not sooo great because the BBC is already contributing. MotoGP on the "big" BBC Two channel, the other race and Saturday's qualifying session on BBCi.

But here in Germany I do not see how the magnitude of transfers should be kept close. The DSF will never move in the life of the double pass.

In EUROSPORT I start slowly making me worry. You would have thought in the course of the long-DORNA negotiations, the EUROSPORT threatens the Superbike World Championship, but the races are actually weggesendet rather listless. It is sheer coincidence that the two races will be shown live or at any time as a summary.

Possible Dark Horse: SAT.1. The group has long since departed from a comprehensible program and purchasing policies. Here, other factors such as "Beautify the bride," a role.

I can make the idea of Dorna, with individual licenses for more money than € sports, track already. Germany is not some kind of large target market, a German manufacturer and continues with German drivers are not in the next 2-3 years, not even in sight. The money is made in Spain and Italy. However, one in Spain and Italy already transmitting local partners, so I'm not quite clear where the additional revenue will come from there ...

As long as you can collect neatly in Spain, Italy and England, is likely to Dorna all right. It's also only the MotoGP. The smaller classes - and viewers interested in more countries countries - have been used for years to degrade more and more annoying appendage.

I feel so slow in Germany as in a banana country.
NASCAR .. can get away, no need here, no market interest, eh no.
MotoGP .. excellent reporting and everything live? Why, yes can do differently or more € n.

Think about just what all can still make money at the expense of the fans. Can not all be true. I hear only Germany is not a market for this and that ...

  7. Aimar 27th June 2008 at 22:26 #

@ Hwk: As sad as it is. Usually the sentence is true even with Germany is not a market. There are football and Formula 1 The rest is yet to even exotics. Since there are at most temporary even things like ski jumping. But this is nothing long term.

I can also throw up something from.
It just always knows only what one has when it is no longer there.

And because Premiere can surely forget that the draw would rather send + all the games in the DFB Cup. Neustrelitz from Reutlingen and stuff.
Then it stops for me, and I play football himself, but then they're somewhere is the end!
And in racing debut but also builds only on the Formula 1
Besides, a little cheap X-treme-program pen. This can bend it however.

  9. basic-groove 27th June 2008 at 23:33 #

hmmm, I could also imagine that the program still Dorna their IT offering. But just based country.

because not every sport also brings € for the same junk! for example € sport france has the right for F1, A1GP, L1, etc. which this sport € Germany has just net. guess it is - I hope - be tantamount.

  10. dogfood 29th June 2008 at 11:35 #

@ Basic Groove: It is the main program does not EUROSPORT German branch. In Germany - shown Eurosport International - unlike in F and UK. The only German to be the signal for a few studio parts. In F and UK so you can also make your own program, because it's pay-TV there. Unlike in Germany, where EUROSPORT has apparently had enough trouble storing its HD program somewhere.

I find it surprising that a revenue increase from the DORNA exclusive free-TV rights believe in a few countries to achieve and to establish in many parts of Europe, a worse situation.

If the DORNA with a "wide-reaching German channel" argument, it means free TV, and so it would receive in most of Europe. All stations broadcast their programs over ASTRA. Revenue gains in other parts of Europe can therefore not be achieved through exclusive pay-TV rights.
