NASCAR Sprint Cup Daytona week / Team Australia wants to IRL

After the Budweiser Shootout and Daytona 500 before It's "Daytona Week" in the United States and all turn at the wheel, because the "500" are the single most important race of the NASCAR season. Never again in the season, the ratings will be as high as this weekend, so the PR machine running hot. There are tons of PR events, there will be extra made for the race switched spots - even the idea of the pace car, there is again a separate news conference. In other words - complete madness.

This is also reflected in the rules again, how you have now come into the Daytona 500. Usually it's this year as follows: The top 35 are qualified anyway and go into a session of the courts. The rest of beats in a separate qualification for the remaining places. Just get on the fastest time. The rules in Daytona but are more complicated. My colleague Pete Finch of MS-total.com has taken the trouble, the whole thing unravel naturally . In essence, it is this: The Pole was presented on Sunday, when Jimmie Johnson was fastest. The rest will be on Thursday in the Gatorade Duels set, but I imagine even more accurate. In the end, you then have a starting lineup, but with a 500-mile race with restrictor plates anyway is not that important, then even if only 25 is possible to win the race easily. The pole is then seen sporting unimportant, but the sponsors are, of course, because they can brag about for a whole week. But who on Thursday finally knocked out in the Duels, which can then directly pack his bags and go home.

IRL - Team Australia wants to change
One of the top teams in the Champ Car series, Team Australia CCWS is apparently planning to leave and not to wait for a merger. This says team boss Derek Walker of "USA Today". Would leave the team with two cars, the CCWS, it would look really bleak, as luck would have it with 15 cars to be launched. The air for the Champ Car series is getting thinner. That there is no news at the moment, is also the fact that IRL owner Tony George was staying in Japan, where he tries to move the Motegi race. There is a lot of air at the dates it is not there. The April fall away, as the May, which is reserved for the Indy 500. Would a weekend in June, or you choose but for a start in September, but usually the weather at this time in Japan rather poor and it would come with the NASCAR into the enclosure, the Chase starts in September.

And what else?
Once the mail campaign. After a few emails between myself and Dennis Grübner of stock car news forum we have come to the conclusion that it probably does not make much sense to email sponsors and teams of NASCAR. Since most of the sponsors goes to highlight Ausstrahlug premiere, it makes no sense to protest there. That would be different, the reporting would be eliminated entirely in Germany, but which is not yet Sun Given the situation, that probably no one wants to acquire the exclusive rights for Germany, it probably makes more sense to continue to raise premiere.

Furthermore, I have heard that some emails to premiere were located well below the waistline. This is not the kind of "protest" to introduce myself. One can and must deal with the policy of Premiere subscribers in dealing with program and grappled, but insults do not help here but no more harm. One should not indulge in the fallacy that the protests will not change much, but anything can be achieved if one submits vituperation. The best way to show premiere, that one is dissatisfied, there is a clearly articulated mail or when it would otherwise specified in the subscription is canceled.

Clear rejection of U.S. regarding NASN & ESPN NASCAR

ESPN USA I just confirmed easily irritated by mail, NASN will show that even after the withdrawal of the Sprint Cup debut in either UK or Europe. As noted in the Mail

We can not comment on other broadcasters Whether or wants will not choose to pick up the rights to show the rest of the season premiere have shown once the Daytona 500

It seems as if NASN Europe is out of the number. I wßte not know what station might otherwise take over in Germany, the rights to the Sprint Cup.

MotorsTV: Have the pan-European broadcasting the same problem as NASN, even if there is a German feed. The cost of rights for the Sprint Cup, but by far exceed the capabilities of MotorsTV.

Euro Sports 2: The same problems as with NASN and MotorsTV.

It is probably just an attempt by Premiere Fan protests to move to a rethink.

Merger between the IRL and CCWS / NASCAR - Junior kicks off

Before we start, again an addendum regarding NASCAR. Meanwhile, the Broadcasting Division of the NASCAR responded to my question and I posted a long message, which says among other things, that one might very well great importance to the German market. And then it says:

Though Premiere of NASCAR's offering in 2008 will be reduced, we are pleased to advise that Premiere will broadcast the Daytona 500 will also broadcast live and the one-hour highlight programs NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

As of now there are no plans to stream the races live on line, but we will keep you updated on any new developments Which may arise.

The emphasis is mine. Normally you get from the Americans is either answers where "so and so's that point.", Or is there langamtig "No Comment". This "... it is now, sadly, but maybe something else will change ..." is at least unusual, that I would not interpret too much into the words. I lean so far out of the window, I say NASCAR is sooo not right that Premiere has reduced the amount of transfers. It helps to be emailed further. I do have an extra posting with email addresses and hope to have this done on Monday. Stay tuned!

IRL / CCWS - merger, or not?
I got the news about the ongoing negotiations between the CCWS and the IRL noticed, of course, but not yet commented. This was partly because I was blocked because of the NASCAR / premiere thing, by the way I also had time to take care of my living and that perceived 14th Message in the last few years, was in the states that now but really and completely determines the two series ... Well, this time the situation is different. While the IRL cope with the departure of Dario Franchitti and Sam Hornish Jr. has the CCWS lies entirely on the ground. Less than two months before the scheduled start of the series has been just to be able to commit five drivers, the former race director is changed as the IRL, as Raphael Manto, the grßte young star that had the CCWS. The situation is verherrend: The sponsors want stars, the stars do not come because the show has very little money, the teams only talk about water, because the team owners are rich and topped the whole malaise is also the fact that most of the race Series only on Sunday evenings after 22.00 clock from the Konserver be sent. Against the "Sunday Night Game" of MLB. It could hardly be worse.

After offer of Tony George, willing to change teams for free equip (so at his own expense) with chassis and engines, to being a miracle that the small teams do not already have gone over the dozen. But that simply is not just because the teams are bound by contract to the series. Theoretically there is no problem that you can, to a store and under a new name in the IRL opens again, but now you want so do not lose even its history and negotiate all contracts with all the new sponsors. Added to this is that most teams are somehow in league with the leadership of the CCWS. Kalkhove has in recent years one or the other team owners with money seized under the arms, and Dan Petitt is one of the parts Forsythe team and he was once involved in private health insurance. Would simply run away, apart from contractual problems, simply shabby.

Supposedly, it all depends on the date of the IRL Motegi, for there you go relatively empty stands for the engine supplier Honda. But I suspect that there are more things. Cosworth for example. The racing department of the company survived only in part, because it endows the CCWS and if one goes along with the IRL, you have to build either withdraw, or a new engine. What is in two months not to do so easily. But Cosworth is calculated from the Kevin Kalkhove CCWS.

The issue is far from through, even if all teams can hardly wait for a merger and start today rather than tomorrow, along with the IRL would. The whole thing is a defensive struggle of Kalkhove, to swim away the skins. Since it is not surprising that he sends out bad-tempered press releases to read where is that but the negotiations should be secret, and now the whole world is talking about it and so it would not even know he would prefer to work alone on. Clearly, with every report that the merger is only a matter time, the sponsors hold back with promises for the CCWS. That means for less Kalkhove bargaining chip, and an even worse position.

And what else?
Yes, stupid. I've never seen the Budweiser Shootout and complete, because I simply could not Saturday night and so far no record has surfaced. (Who must report a link, please).

The junior has won, is no secret to me and of course this is great. For him, because it takes away at least for the first half of the season the whole pressure that would have weighed on him. Of course, for Hendrick because of the push by Johnson at the restart, says a lot about what is the mood at Hendrick. Whether the junior would get but also at the Daytona 500, is another question. For the NASCAR victory by junior gold is worth. Not only is it his first since the race at Richmond in May 2006, now is the PR machine and start the Daytona 500 push very far up on the attention scale. If Junior can win, then turn right again a few more rednecks on the television. The victory LSST will sell brilliantly, and especially in light of the DEI and the unfortunate saga Junior in the last 12 months. The season is going so well so that you can in the context of the statement, you would now have to worry about the "real" NASCAR fans might already have most of the ideas that had been threaded sent. But I do not trust the NASCAR and especially Tony Stewart really not :)

The program overview on the new website of SpeedTV's a disaster. Lahm and place on a page, now you have to click through three pages, you will see the day's program.
